It pitted some of top prospects in the area against one another. In this article we look at some of the top forward performances delivered at the tournament.
Nia Blocton Nia Blocton 6'0" | PF Ridgeview | 2024 State FL was a force and ended up on the all tournament team at the Battle on the Island after it was all said and done. Blocton had her usual double-double performance in rebounds and points and led her team to the finals. Blocton is a player teams have to game plan for and she plays with that target on her back all the time. On one instance, Blocton grabbed a rebound and went coast to coast, pulled up for a midrange shot, got the offensive rebound, and scored. This was just one of the many hilight plays that Blocton made.
Aniyah Campbell Aniyah Campbell 5'10" | PF Ridgeview | 2024 State FL did a great job also for Ridgeview. I was really impressed at her scoring down the stretch. She did a good job of making herself available for the open pass underneath. Campbell did a good job of rebounding and was very instrumental on defense. She played her role very well and stood out doing so.
Nykeria Thomas Nykeria Thomas 5'10" | CG Mandarin | 2024 State FL played very well, and as usual, there’s a lot of things she did well on the basketball court. Thomas can handle the ball, rebound the ball, and distribute the ball like a point guard. Thomas scored well, especially in the mid range area and in the paint. She was definitely a stand out in the tournament and averaged close to 14 points per game.
Hilary Englert Hilary Englert 5'10" | SF Bolles | 2024 State FL played her versatile game at Battle on the Island and as usual just did what was needed to help her team win. Englert rebounded well, had some scores on the inside, and was a playmaker. She drew the defense and kicked out to her talented perimeter shooters.
Nacoya Blocton Nacoya Blocton 6'0" | PF Ridgeview | 2025 State FL played well and just continues to play the style that only a few high schoolers can play. She scores on the inside like a power forward , and she shoots on the perimeter like a shooting guard. She also runs the point at times and can attack off the dribble or dish to open teammates for the score. Nacoya Blocton Nacoya Blocton 6'0" | PF Ridgeview | 2025 State FL was arguably the top offensive player in the tournament.
Terrannya Medlock Terrannya Medlock 6'0" | SG Ribault | 2025 State FL (cover photo on far right) was awarded the finals MVP and deservedly so. Medlock was scoring inside and outside, battling on the glass with Nia Blocton Nia Blocton 6'0" | PF Ridgeview | 2024 State FL , and pulling up from three point land like a guard. Medlock’s length and versatile play was a treat and she definitely brought the “A” game. She was back to last year’s form and showed why she is one of the top Juniors in the State.
Destiny Donaldson Destiny Donaldson 5'9" | SF Ribault | 2025 State FL (cover photo in middle) was also a standout forward at the tournament and played well. She battled on the glass, scored on the inside, and scored in the midrange area. Donaldson was also a force and presence in the middle of the defense. She ran the floor well and had some nice buckets in transition. She is one of the best offensive rebounders in the area and also one of the top Juniors in the State.
Genesis Henry Genesis Henry 5'7" | SF Rickards | 2025 State FL was a standout Forward and led her squad to some solid performances at the Battle of the Island. Henry was very athletic and could do a lot on the floor. She scored in the paint, in transition, and off the offensive glass. Henry came into the tournament averaging 14.1 points per game. She left her mark on the First Coast. She is a baller.
