Murphy was one of the biggest surprises for me, well until I used the search bar and saw that I had dropped her on my Tip Sheet from a 2020 Pass Tha Ball event, so almost 4 years had passed since I saw her but to see how much she’s added to her game had me smiling. Yes, I loved her dropping the long-ball, the midrange was already there but her ability to “catch and shoot” with a hand in her face was nice. Here’s an update from the Spring Creek Mansfield Invitational
Moss was on the list to be added yet rimmy@playerrimedies.com split up with me to cover the Spring Creek Mansfield Invitational and gave her perspective on Moss and she was on point. I love the fact that Draden is a big guard that can flat out shoot the ball, I mean her ability to create and elevate, her stop and pop in transition, even coming off of a screen, her mid to long-range jumper is among the best in Texas. Here’s a fun fact, I love big guards that can shoot, more importantly so do, college coaches and they offer next level opportunities
Highlights
Thomas is one of those players that can score in he flow as well as take over games and score in droves. She made my Stock Risers from the Peggy Whitley Classic Tip Sheet yet here’s an even better tip, her upside is scary because she not only can drain it from outside, she uses a deceptive first step to attack the basket off the dribble, with either hand and and finish the same way, with either hand, after contact. Solid court vision and her decision making is good
Hampton is a “long and athletic” guard, which is still the base and watching her slice through defenders to get to the basket got her on one of my Sandra Meadows Classic Tip Sheets. Yes, she left a lasting first impression because either I hadn’t seen her during club ball or her club failed to turn in a roster and I kept it moving which is basically what she does because she uses her athleticism on both ends of the court. She created her shot under pressure and knocked it down with a hand in her face yet she also threaded the needle in traffic for assists
Jackson is also “long and athletic” and with her having the explosiveness off the dribble and being a couple of inches shy of the magic number, she is a mismatch waiting to happen. Her body control on her finishes are nice and I caught her not once, but twice over the Thanksgiving break and she gave me a little bit of everything in both. I enjoyed her elevation around the basket to score as much as I did watching her pull-up jumper yet her acrobatic finishes are nice, so is her defense and UPSIDE
