Cloud continues to let the sun shine on her skills as she’s started off with a bang in high school. Bang happens to be the right word as she left a lasting first impression at the PGH Freshman Showcase making my GAMECHANGERS article. She has several intangibles that I love to see, starting with her DESIRE as she goes after everything off the rim yet her finishing strongly after contact both off the dribble, as well as around the basket. Her midrange jumper is solid, so is her defense , both in the set as well as in transition
Highlights
Fox as in “just like a” is long and athletic and in case you don’t pay attention, I call that the base because it’s not only a profile I love to evaluate, so do many next level coaches and she’s on her way to big things. She understands how and when to take the defender, nice body control on her finishes but she can score facing the basket as well. She hits the boards, on both ends, but she can handle the ball afterward and go coast to coast o score. Her court vision is soli, so is her defense
Richardson is another “long and athletic” player with some impressive upside and watching her progression on the court over the past couple of seasons speaks volumes on what’s coming. Her timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots keeps getting better, especially since she can handle the ball afterward, well she also does that after rebounding, which she does on both ends. Her jumper, as well as scoring off the dribble keeps the defenders on their toes, yet her defense in the set is also solid
Travis is singing a different tune as she continues to elevate her game and what she showed me at the Girls TABC Showcase was a huge jump in her game since seeing her a couple of seasons earlier with her then club team. To say her upside is “scary” is an understatement as her game is becoming polished on both ends as she’s showing “power in the paint” on both ends of the court and her finishing with players literally hanging on her had me smiling. Her college ready body is there and her college ready game is coming
Chatman was left off the initial list because I hadn’t seen her in a minute so after checking out what she’s doing in high school, I’m adding her because I already called her a #D1Lock and please correct me after I’m wrong, been doing this too long and I just know because I’m a REAL EVALUATOR. She can play multiple positions, she’s nearing that magic number of 6’0 and her ability to not only create her shot under pressure but knock it down from mid to long range is huge because college coaches love big guards that can shoot. She also does a good job around the basket, scoring and rebounding, which places her in the small forward group yet her maturity on the floor is ahead of her years
