Madeline Volpe Madeline Volpe 5'4" | CG Whitefish Bay | 2027 WI
Whitefish Bay nearly pulled off a massive road win at Hartford last night, and their two freshmen, Rowan Counsell Rowan Counsell 5'5" | CG Whitefish Bay | 2027 State WI and Madeline Volpe Madeline Volpe 5'4" | CG Whitefish Bay | 2027 WI , were outstanding all game long. Those two could get wherever they wanted whenever the Blue Dukes needed a basket. To focus more specifically on Volpe, she’s an incredibly hard-nosed defender, doesn’t shy away from defending taller defenders, and is willing to take contact from post players, and she pops up off the floor every time with a smile.
Kennedy Ebben Kennedy Ebben 5'7" | PG Kimberly | 2027 WI
I talked about waiting for a Van Vonderen breakout game. Now, I’m waiting for one from Ebben. Although Ebben comes off the bench for Kimberly, who has plenty of talented guards, I believe Ebben can lift the Papermakers to a win in a postseason game. Like seemingly every other 2027 guard in the FVA, she’s as poised as any guard in the state, takes care of the ball, and controls the tempo. However, Ebben has the talent to score and create in bunches. I’m unsure when it will happen, but Ebben is good enough to swing a game in Kimberly’s favor on any night.
Alexis Accurardi
There is plenty of potential when it comes to Accuardi. She’s a 6-1 wing/post kid with plenty of length. Right now, she doesn’t do more than she can, which is good for her and DeForest. Her defense usually comes from being under the basket, but she understands when to rotate and use her length to make finishing around the basket difficult without fouling. The outline of an uber-productive kid is there, but due to the talent around her, she doesn’t have to do more than she’s capable of. In a year or two, we might discuss her being one of the best in the Badger Conference.
Jaydn Zdorik
The Pacelli wing was not a name I knew much about until they walked into undefeated St. Mary Catholic’s gym and handed the Zephyrs their first loss a week or two ago. In that game, Zdorik was outstanding. She’s a physical kid and got to the basket whenever she wanted, and scored at will in the paint or at the free-throw line when she got fouled. I won’t act like I know everything about her game, but when someone plays the way she did against a bigger school on the road like she did, I have to take notice.
