Mayen Akpan has one of the biggest breakout players in the class of 2026. Through the first half of the year, Akpan ranked in the top 10 in rebounds per game, averaging an impressive 10.2 rebounds per contest, while frequently scoring in double digits for the Panthers as well. She is particularly impressive on the offensive glass, where she gets second chances for her team at a very high rate. In one very impressive performance this season in championship of the Platinum Bracket at the POA Holiday Classic, Akpan finished with 10 points and 16 rebounds, 9 of which were offensive boards to help South Medford secure the win over Mission Hills (CA). With the rate at which Akpan has been improving, she has the potential to continue to rise up in the rankings and to become one of the best post prospects in the state.
Kaylee Cordle Kaylee Cordle 5’8″ | SF South Albany | 2026 State OR , also amongst the best rebounders in the state with an average of 8.0 rebounds per game, has played a huge role in getting South Albany to the #3 spot in the state in 5A. In addition to being a dominant force on the boards, Cordle has the ability to play from the perimeter on the offensive end and knock down shots from deep, which allows the RedHawks to play a 5-out that is extremely difficult to guard. She also throws in a handful of steals for her team every single game highlighting her defensive prowess. In a couple of their most recent games, Cordle had 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals, and 1 assist against West Albany, and 16 points, 8 boards, 2 assists, and 3 steals versus Corvallis, which are typical numbers for her.
Cali Davis Cali Davis 6’0″ | C Forest Grove | 2026 State OR is another talented young post who can help the Vikings stretch the floor with her lights-out shooting. She often scores in double-digits for her team, including two recent notable performances of 13 points (including two 3’s), 3 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block over David Douglas, and 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal against a very good Sherwood team. In addition to her beautiful and quick shot, Davis runs the floor in transition incredibly well, and her 6’0 frame combined with her athleticism and her awareness make for the perfect recipe to make some huge plays on the defensive end. Davis playing at a high level will be a huge x-factor in Forest Grove’s success for the rest of league play and in the postseason.
In the wake of Arosemena’s injury, Tualatin is looking to its other players to continue to find ways to win, and Alex Padilla Alex Padilla 6’0″ | PF Tualatin | 2026 State OR has been one of the top contributors for her squad. The sophomore post has been particularly effective in the Timberwolves’ zone on the defensive end of the floor, where she has shown her versatility by playing all three roles when needed and shown that she is one of the top defenders in the state. In the opening game of league play versus Lake Oswego, she put up a complete game with 8 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks, and in a recent huge test against Oregon City, Padilla had a crucial 12 points and 5 rebounds to help secure the win. In her increased role, Padilla will continue to shine the rest of this season.
Brooklynn Summers Brooklynn Summers 6’1″ | PF McMinnville | 2026 State OR has been making a name for herself this season. Often playing behind the Grizzlies’ star, Madison Gerhart, Summers has been seeing more court time as a sophomore, and she has been making the most of it. Quick on her feet and a good athlete, Summers racks up quite a few steals at the back of McMinnville’s press, and she is also excellent at looking up the floor and outletting the ball to her teammates quickly to create an advantage. She shows off some great footwork around the rim as well. In two games this season, Summers had 13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals versus David Douglas, and 11 points, 7 boards, 6 steals, and 1 assist against Glencoe. With Gerhart graduating at the end of this season, Summers is looking like she has the potential to step up and be one of the top bigs in the state next season.
