Kyra is a true enigma. She is incredibly hard to defend as she can play a multitude of positions and she continues to leave defenders puzzled on what her next move will be. She can be the dominant force in the middle that can go to work in the post or she can be the dangerous 3 point shooter that you can not leave alone behind the arc. Kyra finished with a game high 19 points, 18 of which she scored in the second half alone as she was the spark that willed her team to victory. She was able to knock down four triples in the second half and brought the crowd to its feet with every three-pointer she drilled. Kyra understands positioning, how to use her body to create spacing and knows how to react to the defense. As soon as the defender thinks they have her figured out, she will find a way to score the basketball. She moves very well for her size and utilizes every inch of the floor. A terrific player that has had a truly stellar career at Central Cabarrus.
When Mary has the ball in her hands, you just have to keep your eyes on her as you don’t know what is coming next. Finishing with 16 points in the game, Mary was the key behind jumping out to 23-11 lead at halftime of last night’s contest. She can play either of the guard spots however she really excels as a PG as she has the decision-making abilities that coaches look for out of its primary ball handlers. She does a great job finding teammates as she was able to laser a pass inside to a teammate who got open for a score. She can shoot from deep and she has plenty of mobility to get around defenders and get inside. She is very patient when she attacks the lane and will utilize ball fakes to attack her defenders and get to the rim. It is obvious she is a true team player and great leader. She has all of the intangibles you look for at the next level and is certainly worthy of more recognition on the recruitment trail.

Here is a a very under the radar Center who is certainly worth a look by some smaller programs looking for a Center with some high potential. Shelby finished with 8 points Friday and played some quality minutes for Coach Blalock. Shelby commands attention with her ability to control the paint on defense. Opponents must always think twice before taking the ball inside as she always has her hands up and she can protect the rim. She does a good job moving her feet from block to block and switching off opponents. She can rebound the ball well and just an overall solid big who can be a true asset. I really looking forward to watching her continued development through next season.
Jahnae finished with 6 points in Friday night’s win, however, the points don’t truly quantify who she is a player Jahnae does a great job as the team’s primary PG, setting the table in which everybody eats from. She makes the right pass, to the right player at the right time. It’s easy to see where the ball should go as a spectator. It’s much more difficult to see it when there are two defenders with their hands in your face. Jahnae has a strong ability to see her teammates before they are open and makes the necessary adjustments to make sure that they get the ball. She has a lot of quickness and knows how to beat her defenders off the dribble and draw defenders in. She is a good decision maker with ball in her hands and knows how to control the pace of a game. Very strong game from this sophomore.
