Mary Church is a new addition to the Lady Attack Elite team.  She had a strong season with East Rowan doing everything a guard needs to do from handling the ball, knocking down shots, and making sharp passes.  She makes effective cuts getting to the open space, and she stays ready to put up her shot off the pass.  She can use her length on defense knocking the ball away and even stepping in front of her opponents to block some shots.

Mary Church is a dynamic guard with a fearless mentality for East Rowan High School. She is a great athlete who pushes the basketball with urgency. Church scores at the rim well with either her left or right hand. She can avoid defenders with a sweet euro-step or power up over a bigger post player. Additionally, Church has deep three-point range. In any game, she can positively alter a game on offense or on defensive because of her competitiveness and leadership. 

When Mary has the ball in her hands, you just have to keep your eyes on her as you don’t know what is coming next. Finishing with 16 points in the game, Mary was the key behind jumping out to 23-11 lead at halftime of last night’s contest. She can play either of the guard spots however she really excels as a PG as she has the decision-making abilities that coaches look for out of its primary ball handlers. She does a great job finding teammates as she was able to laser a pass inside to a teammate who got open for a score. She can shoot from deep and she has plenty of mobility to get around defenders and get inside. She is very patient when she attacks the lane and will utilize ball fakes to attack her defenders and get to the rim. It is obvious she is a true team player and great leader. She has all of the intangibles you look for at the next level and is certainly worthy of more recognition on the recruitment trail.

The standout from 3A East Rowan certainly brought her fearless attitude the short trek down Interstate 85 to Cox Mill HS. She has no problems attempting shots even against multiple defenders and is confident in her ability to make 3-pointers. Church also has no issues attempting tried over taller defenders and also brings superb ball handling and hustle to the court. She also has no problems drawing contact and giving her team additional opportunities at the free throw line. Church will now combine her vast skillset with veteran experience as she embarks on her junior campaign with the Mustangs.

Mary Church Mary Church 5'7" | SG East Rowan | 2025 State NC  stripped the ball on multiple occasions pushing it up the court going the other direction.  She hustles back on defense being ready to guard the ball or grab a rebound on fast breaks.  Her ability to rebound on offense was helpful for some points, and she can definitely drain it from beyond the perimeter.  Her best attribute, though, may just be the high energy she consistently plays with constantly talking on the court and being a big encourager on both ends of the court.

Mary Church Mary Church 5'7" | SG East Rowan | 2025 State NC showed off her range from deep, and she had some nice handles to create space between her and her defender.  She has a nice step back jump shot.  She was a tough defender, too, grabbing steals and taking them the other direction with ease.

Mary Church Mary Church 5'7" | SG East Rowan | 2025 State NC goes full speed when she steps on the court.  She is constantly going after loose balls and using her quickness to jump into passing lanes on the defensive end.  On offense, she can barrel through any opponent and show off a nice finish at the rim.  She knows how to shift the defense opening up the court for herself or finding an open teammate for their own points.

Mary Church Mary Church 5'7" | SG East Rowan | 2025 State NC  was all over the court going after loose balls knocking it out of her opponents’ hands.  She doesn’t hesitate at all to dive on the floor for some loose balls.  She did well handling the pressure of guarding the opposing team’s best player.  She was crashing the boards as well.  She can drive hard to the basket knowing how to get around her defenders.
