I will not be watching the Lakota West/Toledo Central Catholic game since they both were watched yesterday, so here is the standouts from the first 3 games of the day.
Reminder the all-tournament team and Freshman to Watch team will be released this week and those players are not included in this listing.
Very skilled forward with quick hands and able to force turnovers and push the tempo. Good handles and excellent footwork, can score at the rim with a variety of moves. Plays with good aggressiveness and not afraid of playing through contact.
I like the way she plays with a high motor and has a good basketball IQ. Plays with tenacity and she is only a sophomore so I expect her game to continue to grow. Able to read the game in advance. A good impact player with good passing skills and makes good decisions.
Good handles and able to play either inside or out. Can make the move with good footwork and get to the rim. Gets downhill well and able to score at the rim, also a weapon from the free throw line. Has good length which allows her to play the passing lanes with deflections. (Featured photo above)
Love her anticipation of the game, able to read things in advance and anticipate well. Her leadership continues to grow as the senior does a nice job running the offense. She has a solid perimeter game with good range. Not afraid of contact, she can push the tempo and has good court vision.
Sofia has a smooth perimeter game as a shooter with great range. She knocked down two Caitlin Clark-range threes in the first half of her game today that opened some eyes. She definitely has a shooter mentality, not afraid to let it fly. Good handles and as a senior, she provides solid leadership.
Kali Fortson
Kali Fortson
This girl honestly keeps getting better and better. She has such a strong, physical presence under the boards. Kali is able to power the ball to the hoop, and often gets a three point opportunity. Plays through contact. Defensively, she will protect the rim and is a rebounding machine. This next-level player is a difference maker.
