From the roads to the sidewalks, the ice and snow has sure made it slick outside. Along the same lines, there have been some basketball players that have been slippery inside. When I describe a basketball player as “slippery”, I generally mean they find open spaces and prove to be very tough for defenders to stay in front of or even generally cover or defend. So while it sure is slippery outside, the athletes below have been slippery inside.
The Belleville star and Omaha commit is, and has been a menace for defenders. She has a quick first step that can immediately put defenders at a big disadvantage. If that’s not enough, she can start and stop on a dime making it sometimes impossible to keep her contained. Shelby uses these skills to create for herself and her teammates.
Highlights
Wells is like that smooth ice. You know the kind. When the breaks don’t matter and you wave to the neighbors as you slowly slide by the driveway. Wells slides in open space and slips in lanes to the rim before a defender can really do anything about it. She’s one of those players that can quietly get a few quick buckets before anyone know what hit them.
Bryant is like the ice storm that gets kids a day off of school. Nobody wants to take on that level of slickness. Her handles are different level good and she can use them to create space and get a step on the defense. Bryant is an expert at wrong-footing her defender and attacking off the bounce.

Wright is definitely a slippery athlete and basketball player. Ever drive on or walk on that ice that seems to jump up and grab you? That’s Tyra Wright Tyra Wright 5’8″ | SG Henry Ford II | 2025 State MI . You can think you’re safe, but right when you do, her energy and effort on both ends will come and get you. Plus, she’s just fast and can just get by defenders.

Everyone hates clear ice on the road. You know it’s going to be slippery, but you just don’t know exactly when it’s coming for you. Sounds a lot like Gaddy to me. Every defender knows how quick she is and how slick she is with the ball, but it doesn’t really help.
