Jaloni Cambridge was the most impressive player on the day, and it shouldn’t be much of a surprise. Jaloni is one of the best players in the country, and she showed why all game. She was committed to getting to the rim and had tough finishes all game. Montverde loves playing with pace, and part of why they’re so good at it is because of the ball handling, speed, and vision of Jaloni Cambridge. Her passing when she got downhill was impressive, and the ball never really stuck to her hands. It always found the open players’ hands, and the efficiency of this offense ran through her. Jaloni had a couple of plays that were huge in Montverde keeping their padded lead. She hit a deep three at the end of the first quarter and had a tough and 1 early in the 3rd—a fantastic performance from a great player.
Vivian is a top 50 player in the 2024 class, and she showed why. Vivian is a great interior defender and had a couple of massive blocks in this game. She is a great rebounder and just a physical and aggressive player. She is a great athlete, and she shows that on both ends. She had some great finishes through contact. Her strength, size, and athleticism were displayed in an outstanding performance.
I mentioned how Montverde played fast and how good their offense was. A significant contributor to their offense was Senior guard Chloe Sotell. Chloe knows her spots on the floor where she wants to get her shots, and when the ball gets moving, it always seems to find Chloe. Chloe had a lot of good looks and knocked many of them down. Chloe is a true shooter and a smart basketball player.

Amirah got off to an excellent start in this game vs. Montverde, knocking down her first few jump shots. She kept up the offense throughout the game with some superb work in the mid-range and a couple of threes. Amirah also did an excellent job rebounding against a big Montverde team. What I like about Amirah’s game is that whenever I watch her, she never forces things. She lets the game come to her, and she takes a lot of good shots—another solid performance from Amirah.
Highlights
Early in this game, Nyla settled for some difficult shots. But as the game wore on, especially in the second half, Nyla started to go downhill and get to the line. Nyla is so skilled at her size and one of the best scorers in the DMV, and you saw a lot more of that in the second half. Getting to her mid-range and the rim is her strong suit, and when she got to that, she had a lot of success. Although Bishop Ireton lost this game, giving up 82 points, the offense from Nyla and Amirah, along with a few others, kept this game competitive.
