Kennedy Paul
Kennedy Paul
Paul is “long and athletic” yep, that’s the base but she’s also just shy of “the magic number” which is 6’0 so that in itself is an attraction for many next level coaches to check out. She hits the boards on both ends, she also has good timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots. Her defense was solid inside the paint, she also showed she could defend outside of it. She did a good job attacking the basket to score, nice upside

Jackson is also “long and athletic” yet she stands above “the magic number” so she showed she had a lot of intangibles starting with her ability to score around the basket, after contact, yes putbacks included. She handled the ball from the wing to attack the rim, yet she showed she could knock down the pull-up jumper while being defended. She rebounds, on both ends, she did a good job going after the ball and was constantly moving on defense
Tiyana Alexander
Tiyana Alexander
Alexander did a good job playing multiple positions and she showed she could handle the ball and see the floor while being pressured and when you factor in her height, as well as poise, that’s a solid foundation. It also helps that she was another “long and athletic” player that could D up baseline to baseline as well as under the basket. She also rebounded, on both ends and not only handled the ball afterward but saw the floor
Grace McDonald
Grace McDonald
McDonald has me wondering if I should have just named the article “Long and Athletic New Faces” but her ability to get hers “in the flow” as well as “playing within herself” and with her standing at the 6’0 mark, her upside is really nice. She rebounded strongly on both the offensive and defensive end, she defended inside the paint and scored around the basket
Sema Udo
Sema Udo
Udo was one of the most powerful players I caught at the event that I hadn’t seen and her “hands and footwork” got her the #THROWBACK immediately but she also, you guessed it “long and athletic” coupled with standing at that “magic number” so her scoring around the basket was very nice yet she also attacked strongly and finished after contact. Solid defender that went AFTA everything off the rim, she also did something I love to see and that was playing the passing lane
Ainsley Diepenbrock
Ainsley Diepenbrock
Diepenbrock showed me she could score multiple ways and her creating her shot under pressure helped set everything in motion. She attacked the basket from multiple angles using a deceptive first step and one of the reasons she was able to do that was because she dropped the midrange, so that gave her spacing as well as options. I also liked her coming off the screen to drop it but here “catch and shoot” was just as nice
Makenzie Smith
Makenzie Smith
Smith was another player taking me back to yesteryear with her “hands and footwork” so that #THROWBACK hashtag gets dropped for that alone yet she understands how to use her frame around the basket so those things right there are big pluses. Her defense was solid, she also rebounded strongly on both ends but she showed her athleticism playing the passing lane
Ava Shane
Ava Shane
Shane also did a good job using her body around the basket to score but she attacked the basket strongly and finished after the lick but her midrange jumper was nice, especially since she dropped it with a hand in her face. She understands positioning and rebounded on both ends of the court and her interior defense was also nice
