The MVP Of The Week is an individual that displayed what it means to put on a major performance/s for their perspective squad throughout the week. Someone who came out firing on all cylinders and dominated in more ways than one on the hardwood while putting up an eye-opening stat line.
The Players Of The Week are other individuals that were in consideration for the MVP of the week but fell just short in the end when taking into consideration all outlying factors.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
MVP Of The Week
Divine Bourrage Divine Bourrage 6'0" | CG Davenport North | 2025 State IA
- 1/6/24 vs UTS (IL) – 21 Points, 11 Rebounds, 6 Assists, 2 Steals, 1 Block
Putting up a double-double in high school ball is starting to become a more common thing we see happening as time moves forward but to do it against high level competition from another state, while your team is currently undefeated on the year because of your play, that’s something that should be noticed and that’s what Divine Bourrage Divine Bourrage 6'0" | CG Davenport North | 2025 State IA is doing for Davenport North High School right now. Bourrage, the 9th ranked player in the country, is going to shine more times than not on the high school floor and that has already been proven true this season. Every game she is killing it on both side of the ball. As of most recent, she recorded 21 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and some other positive stats in her teams 15+ point win on Saturday evening in the Iowa vs Illinois Girl’s Showcase. Bourrage is a highly recruited player and we can see why. Putting up numbers like this all season long has been impressive. Along with posting a great stat line this weekend, she also earned MVP of the event for her performance. Another accolade she should be proud of but not satisfied with moving forward.
Players Of The Week
Savannah Gage Savannah Gage 5'10" | SG Ankeny | 2025 State IA
- 1/5/24 vs Urbandale – 25 Points
Ankeny High School has had a successful season so far this winter. One of the reasons for their success comes in the form of Guard, Savannah Gage Savannah Gage 5'10" | SG Ankeny | 2025 State IA . Gage is coming off of an injury but playing her heart out on the court. On every possession she is working to get to the best look at the basket, whether it be for herself or another open teammate. In Gage’s contest against Urbandale on Friday, she scored 25 Points in every way imaginable. Something worth noting, the Hawks were without their best player in this contest, Jayla Williams Jayla Williams 5'10" | CG Ankeny | 2026 State IA , due to a small injury so someone else needed to step up and that was Gage. Don’t get it twisted, Gage has been productive all season long. She is making the most out of her opportunities while getting back into the rhythm of things, which is good to see. She is a committed, future D1 player after this season so as long as she can stay consistent, she will be back to her normal self in no time.
Aubrey Schwieso
- 1/5/24 vs St. Albert’s – 18 Points, 11 Rebounds
I’ve had the opportunity to see Aubrey Schwieso compete live twice now and both times, she surprised me with some of the skill moves she was pulling out of her “bag”. Schwieso has lengthy arms, an athletic first step, and good movement with the ball in her hands. She makes things happen when sets break down and she understands how to adapt in any given situation. This past week Schwieso and her Harlan Community team may have fallen to St. Albert’s but in hindsight, they competed until the very end and Schwieso recorded a double-double with her productive play. In general, I think that Schwieso is underrated. She understands how to play, has good size, listens well, and she won’t hurt you with mistakes too often. All things considering, I think she could play at that next level if given a chance. She has proven that more times than not.
Lindsey Davis Lindsey Davis 5'8" | SG Nodaway Valley | 2024 State IA
- 1/5/24 vs Wayne – 30 Points (12-17), 3 Rebounds, 4 Assists, 5 Steals, 4 TO’s
Lindsey Davis Lindsey Davis 5'8" | SG Nodaway Valley | 2024 State IA is another name that I have featured a few times in this article over the past month because of her production and that has continued into the New Year. In her teams win against Wayne on Friday night, Davis scored a game high 30 points on 12-17 shooting, including 2-3 from behind the three point line. In the end, Nodaway Valley won this contest by 35+ points and every player who saw the floor was involved in their success. As a team, everyone should be proud of how their season has gone so far but they can’t be satisfied. Their biggest game of the year up until this point is scheduled for this upcoming Thursday. In the long run, a win or loss in this one won’t mean too much as long as everyone learns something from it moving forward. As for Davis individually, expect her to go out and do her thing. She is a D2 commit, that is going to be a heck of a player at the next level.
Brynnly German Brynnly German 5'5" | PG Martensdale-St. Marys | 2024 IA
- 1/5/24 @ Mount Ayr – 29 Points (11-16), 10 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 5 Steals, 1 Block, 3 TO’s
Martensdale – St. Mary’s is a program that has the personal, coaching, and the heart to beat some really skilled teams. That has already been on full display this season a handful of times. On Friday night, Martensdale traveled to Mount Ayr High School to compete and there were a couple of players that stepped up in this convincing win, one of them being Brynnly German Brynnly German 5'5" | PG Martensdale-St. Marys | 2024 IA . German scored a game-high 29 points on 11-16 shooting, while also bringing in 10 rebounds, facilitating 5 assists, creating 5 steals, and registering 1 big-time block in the paint. German has been a constant for this program over the past few seasons. You always know what you are going to get out of her and if everyone else around her can play off of that, this group usually has a good outing. This season’s Playoffs are going to be wild throughout all Classes in Iowa. I’m expecting to see MSM in Des Moines to end their season but we will just have to wait and see.
