is a player anyone would want on their team. She has a knack for getting open looks around the rim with her ability to read closeouts, and she is aggressive off the catch. She’s one of those players who knows how to impact the game in different ways, including drawing defenders to find open teammates (Gage finished with 8 assists on the night). She’s also got a solid handle and is comfortable shooting from deep. Defensively, she’s long and athletic and makes any bucket against her a tough one. Gage has the skills and smarts – and both were on display on Tuesday.

It is pretty obvious to anyone paying attention in Iowa that

of Ankeny High School is more than just a role prospect for her group. She is a D1 commit, who can hoop at a high level and she is ready to show that off this upcoming season. Gage is going to play a really important role in her team’s success this Winter, especially at the offensive level.

for them will EAT defensively with steals down the stretch of big games but others will need to step up to hit big shots on rotation and I think that has to be Gage sometimes. She is beyond capable of making this happen so now it’s all about living in the moment and owning the situation when it comes about. Two things that I think Gage has done a great job with up until this point in her basketball career.

. As long as those two find the open teammates around them and compete with a calculated selfishness, then they are should win a lot of games in the grand scheme of things. Like I mentioned above, Gage falls into the category of already being a Division-1 commit so this next few months will be filled with her trying to become better against high-level competition throughout.

Sometimes when an athlete gets injured with their legs, they come back with a noticeable limp or hook to their step but I’m glad to report that

is competing without a brace and looking stronger than ever. Gage is a committed prospect to St. Thomas once her career comes to an end after this next high school season. Gage committed prior to her injury so the Tommies are happy that she is looking and playing healthy basketball in any capacity right now. This next season, her Ankeny High School team will have a chance to make a statement throughout their Winter season. If Gage plays to her strengths and their other D1 prospect makes waves, they will be a tough group to beat in highly anticipated games. They just have to keep their eyes on the prize and they will be fine.

is one of four players coming out of the State of Iowa to compete with this ETG Midwest

program and I think she is going to like her decision. Gage is coming off of a high school season that was impressive. She was returning from injury and seemed to not miss a beat. Gage is a University of St. Thomas (D1) commit and I’m excited to see how that goes. She is going to be a prospect that comes in at the guard position, with some swagger and knowledge of the game. She can handle, facilitate, and score at a high rate. All while being a stout defender. Seeing the floor in a capacity with this team is impressive so any time that she gets on the floor, she is going to make the most out of her opportunities. That’s for sure.

is coming off of a season ending injury last year but that doesn’t mean that she isn’t ready to go. This is an interesting situation. When someone has a leg injury like Gage. a lot of factors come into play. How they look after surgery, how they move after surgery, how their recovery will go, all of these things matter when looking toward someone’s future on the hardwood. In Gage’s case, she came back this Winter and looked pretty good. She doesn’t have a hitch in her step and she is still being a player that is going to be able to produce when she see’s the floor. I do think that over the next year, before she reaches college, Gage will have to expand her game to make up for her lack of quickness. It’s not that she is slow, it’s that she doesn’t want to re-injure herself in anyway so she is going to have to become a little more crafty if she wants to see the floor with the Tommies. Is it possible? Oh yeah, most definitely. Will she make it happen? She has the heart and is dedicated enough but that is still to be determined. At the high school level, she is going to continue to kill it prior to graduation but after that, that’s when the real work begins.

Another big time scoring guard for this group. Can fill it up in bunch offensively while having quick hands and feet, creating a lot of steals and deflections on the defensive side of the ball. Solid athleticism. Type of player who can make it “her” game in the blink of an eye. Difference Maker in every sense of the word.

may not be the #1 skilled player on her Ankeny Hawks team, but she has made a good name for herself thus far this season. She is having the type of season that is going to get her name noticed in the long run. Gage is currently averaging a team high 16.8 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 1.7 APG. A pretty nice stat line if I do say so myself. On the way to averaging these numbers she has led her team to an overall .500 record at 8-8, recording some quality wins VS #1 Dallas Center-Grimes and Waukee. On the other end of things when we speak about their losses we first need to mention how competitive the games in which they have lost are. They have fallen too short to some top ranking quality programs by slim margins. As slim as 1 or 2 points on a consistent basis. Thus far Gage has been the main offensive weapon for this team from the guard position and overall in general through their first 16 games. If she can keep up this production as time proceeds forward I would be shocked if she didn’t receive some high interest from some good college programs out there. She has all the tools currently to show off that she can be a college asset but after another 2.5 seasons of hard-work, the sky will be the limit.
