Continue ReadingAs we tip off the girls high school season throughout Nebraska, there are going to be a few new articles/evaluations that we publish every week during the season, that we have not done recently in the past. One of those articles being our MVP Of The Week and Players Of The Week.
The MVP Of The Week is an individual that displayed what it means to put on a major performance/s for their perspective squad throughout the week. Someone who came out firing on all cylinders and dominated in more ways than one on the hardwood while putting up an eye-opening stat line.
The Players Of The Week are other individuals that were in consideration for the MVP of the week but fell just short in the end when taking into consideration all outlying factors.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

- 1/16/24 vs Logan View/Scribner-Snyder – 14 Points (7-14), 4 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 6 Steals
Emerson Timm of the Arlington Eagles has been one of her team’s leaders and main contributors ever since the start of her Freshman year. Timm would be considered a ball dominant Point Guard. Offensively, she is someone that can score from all three levels while still distributing at a consistently high rate. Defensively, she is very good at timing her opponents moves, leading to a bunch of deflections/steals into transition buckets. Either way you put it, Timm has been a difference maker for this group. On Tuesday evening, the Eagles ended up winning their game against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder High School at home. Timm finished the contest with 14 Points, 4 Rebounds, 3 Assists, and 6 Steals to lead her team. The Eagles currently sit at 13-2 and I’m expecting them to win most of the games left on their regular season schedule. If they do that, they are sure to get a great seed moving into the Playoff’s as they attempt to make a memorable run. As it pertains to Timm individually, she is a winner and that’s blatantly obvious if you know her resumé.

- 1/16/24 vs Tekamah-Herman – 22 Points (11-14), 3 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 1 Steal, 2 TO’s
The Oakland-Craig Knights have started off this season with a 10-3 record while winning some intense battles so far. On Tuesday evening the Knights hosted the Tekamah-Herman Tigers in a home non-conference game. Throughout this game, the Knights did a good job of winning their personal matchups while running the floor with every given opportunity. A player that stood out above most was Adi Rennerfeldt Adi Rennerfeldt 5’7″ | SG Oakland-Craig | 2025 NE . Rennerfeldt ended the contest with a game-high 22 Points, 3 Rebounds, 2 Assists, and 1 Steal. If you check into the play-style of this team, this stat line is the norm. Rennerfeldt is in charge of scoring the ball at a high rate each contest while trying to help her team win. On the season, she is currently averaging 14.5 PPG, 2.8 APG, and 3.8 RPG to help out the Knights. If they want to continue with their success moving forward, it’s obvious that Rennerfeldt is going to have to be a big part of that. If she can play well and their other leaders step up each night, they are going to win some more games before this season comes to a close. That’s for sure.

- 1/16/24 vs Anselmo-Merna – 14 Points (6-13), 8 Rebounds, 5 Assists, 4 Steals, 2 Blocks, 2 TO’s
Mikah O’Neil isn’t a player that we have heard about too often up to this point but her performances as of late have been extremely important for her Sumner-Eddyville-Miller team. On Tuesday evening, O’Neil was a vital factor in her teams 20 point win scoring 14 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, dishing out 5 assists, causing 4 turnovers, and registering 2 monstrous blocks. With a roster that has more than a few players who can compete at a high level, O’Neil does a great job of letting her presence be known each game, even if she isn’t scoring the ball. Every team needs a player that is willing to keep everyone locked in and O’Neil does a great job of that. She always has a positive attitude with a never give effort. If she can keep this up while producing at a high rate around the rim to finish off this year, she is going to be happy with how things turn out in the end.

- 1/19/24 vs Bennington – 11 Points (2-5), 11 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 2 Steals, 1 Block, 3 TO’s
The Noriss Titans have started off this season with a 10-2 record in their first 12 games and they are looking to build on that momentum moving forward. A big reason for their success has been their consistent, team-play across the board. Each player seems to understand their role and what they do best. One of their main contributors comes in the form of Grace Kohler Grace Kohler 5’9″ | SF Norris | 2024 State NE . Kohler is a 5’9 Combo Forward for this group and a productive one at that. She isn’t the type of player to take the most shots or to need the ball at all times to score but at end of a contest, she always has some pretty efficient numbers. As of most recent, Norris went on to beat Bennington High School on Friday by a final score of 57-47. In that game, Kohler had a double-double with 11 Points and 11 Rebounds. Like I said, each player has their role and job on a team and Kohler understands that her’s is to produce whenever the opportunity presents itself. She has done that to a T this year and I hope that continues moving into the Post-season.

- 1/20/24 @ Benson – 25 Points, 5 Rebounds
T’Niyah Wilson-Smith may only be a Freshman but she is playing at one of the highest levels throughout the state so far this winter. Coming into season, Wilson-Smith was on my radar. She has been dominating her age level for some time now at the middle school levels, as well as playing up a few age levels for her AAU program. The skill-side of her game is there. She isn’t the tallest player but she makes up for that with a shifty dribble and a coordinated shooting stroke from deep. Against Benson High School yesterday, Wilson-Smith put up 25 Points and she grabbed 5 Rebounds from her guard position in a 6 point victory. Earlier in the week, she actually posted this exact same stat line against another team they faced. It’s really early on in Wilson-Smith’s career and she has a long time to go but if she continues to shape her craft, she is going to be one of the best players out of this 2027 Class over the next 3.5 years.
