Jalaya Lindsey
Jalaya Lindsey
I’ve watched Walker Valley a handful of time now, and I’m convinced Lindsey is a college level player. She plays all over the floor for WV. She’s their lead ball handler versus presses. And against Rhea Co on Thursday they put her in the short corner with obvious game plan of getting her as many touches as possible. Once she caught int he short corner, she was able to “rip and go” into a right handed finish, or, she is a terrific passer to the high post cutter. She dominated this game without even having to score many points. Lindsey led all scorers with 14.
Elisa Earls
Elisa Earls
Earls played a heck of a basketball game vs Rhea. First, she won the battle vs Jenna Buchard. Buchard is Rhea’s best player, and Earl was in deny mode at the elbows the whole game. When Buchard tried to post her, Earls used her strength to win the block. She’s a really strong post who also showed flashes of offensive skill when she attacked from the elbows. Nice touch on the jumper.
Madison Bischof
Madison Bischof
Bischof came out ultra aggressive against the Rhea Count zone. The showed a nice one dribble pullup game. She had a beautiful cut from the high post against the zone with the tough catch on the move and finish in traffic. And, knocked down a 3 to blow the game open early. Bishof looked liked a really skilled guard with nice length. Finished with 12 points on the night.
Jenna Buchard
Jenna Buchard
Buchard is a highly skilled stretch four. She has the ability to be a 16 and 10 player on any given night…but it’s just not there consistently for her yet. Still has to learn to play vs big physical posts like she saw in this game. She needed to have more touches and be more aggressive attacking the rim. She’s an excellent player…she will bounce back.
Cammie Rueling
Cammie Rueling
Rueling is an exceptionally athletic guard who is dangerous out in the open court. When she gets a head of steam going to the rim, she’s got a bag of craft finishes with either hand, and off one or two feet. Also shows flashes to be a high level shooter.
One of the best individual defensive performances I’ve watched in a while was Washington vs Ryan in Brentwood vs Nolensville. Washington’s ability to stay in front of the live dribble, use her length to contest everything, gave Ryan fits all night. Washington is a D1 level defender.
Washington was EVERYWHERE in the 1st half, and was on pace for a triple double. She’s so physical both offensively and defensively. She has elite vision and passing. High level rebounder for a guard. Intuitive scorer. She’s was the best player on the floor tonight (and that’s saying A LOT when you’re sharing the floor with Ella Ryan Ella Ryan 5’10” | PG Brentwood | 2025 State TN ).
Washington hit a HUGE dagger 3 at the buzzer going into the 4th quarter to extend the lead back to double digits. When Washington is rolling, this team is excellent.
Brakefield does a phenomenal job carving out space as a physical post. Her size isn’t huge, but she knows how to use her body and angles extremely well. Nice array of post moves around the rim, and shows signs of really nice touch. Physical rebounder. Knocked down big 1st half shots. High upside kid.
Poe showed off a really nice touch and basketball IQ versus the Rhea County zone. She has a knack for finding the soft spots in the mid range, and she wasn’t missing. Had a few beautiful cuts, catches and finishes against the zone as well. Really looked impressive in this one. Finished with 10 points vs Rhea.
At one point on the night in the 3rd quarter, she had 19 of her team’s 21. While Washington did as well as you can on her…Ryan is still always going to get to her spots. Ryan needed more help in this game. She hit a 3 in the third to cut the lead to 7, followed by an offensive rebound putback that cut it to 5. Brentwood feeds off Ryan’s energy so much.
Lakya Lockhart
Lakya Lockhart
The Rhea County guard is long and athletic. She has the ability to both shoot the 3, and attack a closeout with nice body control around the rim. She’s a really nice scorer, and scores from 3 levels. Finished with 14 points and a made 3.
I didn’t see this game, but I spoke to people there, and I want to put out a state line that everyone should take note of: 12 points, 21 rebounds, 5 blocks. Kids and parents (and sometimes me) focus too much on points. Pfeiffer completely dominated a simply with superb rebounding, shot blocking, and defense in a Bill Russel-esque performance. Her future coaches at TTU aren’t looking at her 12 points and wishing for more…they are looking at her dominance on the defensive end and loving the player that’s on the way!
