Continue ReadingI’ve heard the stories of Sydney Mains Sydney Mains 5’11” | SF Knoxville Catholic | 2024 State TN shooting on the gun. I’ve heard stories of 300 makes every morning before schoool. I’ve heard stories of 500 attampts every morning before school. Whether these stories are myth or fact….
The reality is the Sydney Mains Sydney Mains 5’11” | SF Knoxville Catholic | 2024 State TN is likely the best shooter in the state. Mains has been on a shooting tear all season, and is averaging 3.5 made threes per game. Thats over 10 points a game in 3 pointers alone. And while she’s making more threes than anyone, she’s also doing it at 42%…..and 42% on high volume is CRAZY efficient.
Highlights
Riggs is a bit of a specialist for Summertown. She’s a zone busting shooter that Summertown is constantly running sets for trying to get Riggs open 3s. She made 58 on the season (only 2 behind Mains), and is averaging 3.2 made threes a game. Her 162 attempts is one of the highest numbers in the state….which generally means her coach and team have full faith in her.
Gosh we like to watch Linx play. Talk about a lights out, stone-cold shooter. Linx is averaging 3.9 made threes per game (read that again). Thats tops in the state….and she’s doing it on 41%. Linx provides Lakeway with a consistent 3pt threat, and has turned into one of the best shooters in the state.
If you haven’t had the chance to watch Karson Dunn Karson Dunn 5’6″ | PG South Gibson | 2026 State TN from South Gibson, trust us at PGH: she’s worth the price of admission. Not only is she a really high level floor general and passer, but she’s also an elite shooter. She’s making three 3s per game on 41% shooting, giving her team that PG presence that’s both a threat to score and facilitate. 80% of her points are coming from 3…and that’s ok! Be a specialist! Pick a skill and be great at it! That’s what Dunn’s done.
Another three point specialist averaging right at three made 3s per game, and averaging 10 points a game.
Again…if I were talking to a player and parent about how to get a scholarship….I’d start with this advice
If your daughter can hit threes at a high percentage, can defend multiple possessions, and not turn the ball over—they will get minutes and give themselves a chance to earn a schloarship.
Morris, and her Brentwood squad, deserve a shout out for the work they are putting together this season. Brentwood looks dangerous, and in part due to ’25 Morris. She’s turned into a true sniper averaging 3.4 made threes a game on 44% (yes….44%) shooting from behind the arc. If you leave Morris open, she’s going to bury it.
