Continue ReadingWith the season winding down and coming to an end, I will start to take a look into each of the classes top teams within the entire. State tournaments are looming and there will be champions crowned. Who are some teams to watch?
Woodinville HS: 14-1 – Woodinville has big wins, mostly winning games by over 15/20 points. They lost to Eastlake, who is another state contending team. Lyla Kahrimanovic Lyla Kahrimanovic 6'0" | SG Woodinville | 2024 State WA is a dynamic scorer who can score at all 3 levels at a high level and make plays for her teammates. Jacey Eggers Jacey Eggers 6'2" | PF Woodinville | 2024 State WA is a force down in the paint and one of the best rebounders in the state. Jazzy Wilkerson is a 2026 graduate who can carved a very nice role for this team as well, showing abilities to play at a high level.
Sumner HS: 15-1 – Sumner is easily a top team in the 4A class, onlying losing to a very talented Chiawana team by 3 points. Kawehi Borden Kawehi Borden 5'11" | PF Sumner | 2027 WA has been arguably the best freshman in the entire state. She knows how to rebound the ball well and scores well on the offensive side too. Lainee Houillon Lainee Houillon 5'7" | PG Sumner | 2024 State WA is a guard who leads the team well when facilitating the offense and scoring the ball. Adriana Perex and Kess Nohr are some other key contributors.
Union HS: 12-2 – Union has losses to tough Camas and Nooksack Valley teams but have the talent to play with the best of the best in the 4A class. Brooklynn Haywood Brooklynn Haywood 5'8" | PG Union | 2026 State WA is as crafty as they come for guards in the entire state. She also has one of the best deep shots in the state, being able to drop 6/7 threes with no problem. Ava Smith Ava Smith 5'8" | SG Union | 2024 State WA is wing who can handle the ball extremely well and make big plays of her own, often. Her deep shot is also elite, leading these two to being one of the top duos in the state.
Bothell HS: 14-2 – Bothell is lead by their core seniors and have played extremely solid all season long. They are on a 10 game win streak and have recently built Eastlake in a close game. Yuna McConnell Yuna McConnell 5'10" | SF Bothell | 2024 State WA , Ashlyn Peterson Ashlyn Peterson 5'7" | PG Bothell | 2024 State WA , and McKylee Hawkins are the core of seniors. Sofia Proctor would have a big role if it wasn’t due to an injury. Sophomore Charolette Lipkin is the 5th starter on the team and an player who is the perfect glue. They all have their strengths but come to a perfect gel when playing together. Kayleah Hawkins Kayleah Hawkins 5'10" | PF Bothell | 2026 State WA is an underclassman who will contribute when back from injury as well.
