Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Central Spring High School escaped with a narrow victory in their Second Round Playoff matchup against the Lake Mills Bulldogs. The top producer and best overall player throughout this contest was the Center for Central Springs, Kaci Crum Kaci Crum 6’1″ | C Central Springs | 2025 IA . Crum is a force to be reckoned with on the high school floor and that was on full display on Tuesday evening. She ended the game with 27 Points and 16 Rebounds, demonstrating that she is going to be a problem for any team moving forward. Her play style is exactly what you would think. At 6’2, she moves well and understands the space around her on both ends of the court. As long as she does her work early on in possessions and doesn’t settle, I don’t see anyone else slowing her down. Eventually teams will double her on the catch. In those moments, she is going to have to prove that she can make the simple pass out. If she does that and her teammates hit shots, they are going to be a tough group to slow down.
Highlights
Ella McLaughlin
Ella McLaughlin
The top ranked Regina Regals won their Second Round matchup last night against Durant High School by a final score of 68-29. In this dominating victory, someone that stepped up for the Regals was Guard, Ella McLaughlin. McLaughlin has moments of greatness. She isn’t her team’s first or second option but she makes the most of her opportunities. Last night when the final buzzer sounded, McLaughlin was her team’s leader in scoring with 23 on 50% shooting. If this Regals team is going to want to win some more games, everyone is going to have to contribute. By this point, everyone finally knows about Morgan Miller Morgan Miller 5’9″ | PG Iowa City Regina | 2025 State IA . If they shut her down, others will have to step up and produce. I think McLaughlin can be their next best option. She just needs to stay aggressive and stay confident in her own abilities.
Aracely Garza
Aracely Garza
Aracely Garza maybe the smallest Forward that I have seen this season by height but her tenacity and hustle make up for that. In her most recent contest, Garza and her Columbus High School team got a much needed victory against West Burlington by a final of 45-39. In this victory, Garza recorded another double-double with 10 Points and 13 Rebounds. She may not have led her team in scoring but she did an even job of spreading out her production into several different parts of the game. If you sit down to watch her compete in just one contest, you can tell that she is a maniac on the boards and relentless in her pursuit of the basketball. That was no different last night. She was cleaning up messes on the offensive end in the paint, while working really hard on defense. Their next opponent is North Mahaska and they are not going to be an easy out. It’s going to take everything Colombus has to move on. Is it possible? Most definitely but they are going to have to make some things happen with some breaks falling their way.
Jozie Lewis
Jozie Lewis
I’m a big fan of Jozie Lewis and her play-style on the basketball court. Lewis is a Guard who stands at around 5’6 and she is aggressive. Defensively, she eats. The way she jumps to the ball, comes from help side, and communicates with the others around her is next level. She is never the type of prospect to take a play off on that side of the court or become lazy when it comes to defense. Offensively, she is just as determined. She is someone that attacks her opponents at every given opportunity, usually turning nothing into something. In Treynor’s 4 point victory last night, Lewis had 15 Points (5-8), 5 Rebounds, 8 Assists, 4 Steals, and 1 Block. As you can probably tell, this was the stat-line of the evening. It’s always a team effort but someone has to put up some important numbers to come out on top and Lewis did just that in their win.
Sydney Doeschot Sydney Doeschot 5’8″ | PG Kingsley-Pierson | 2026 State IA is the main reason that her Kinglsey-Pierson High School team advanced out of Round Two last night and I think she is going to be the main reason that her Panthers team will have a chance to advance to the State Tournaments in a few days. In their game yesterday, Doeschot’s did her thing and produced. She ended the evening with 22 Points on 7-9 shooting, 4 Rebounds, 7 Assists, 8 Steals. and 1 Block, almost giving her a triple-double in the end. If you know anything about this team or Doeschot’s, this production isn’t anything new. She is a proven talent on the hardwood with a swift dribble and silky smooth stroke from deep. She is, and always has been, a top player out of her 2026 Class and she is showing us why right now. I’m not sure if they are going to get through Central Lyon on Friday but if they do, it’s going to be on the back of Doeschot and her production.
