I just wanted to get a little creative and bring you some different, fun categories of players to talk about in the 2025 class. In this one, I focus on players who bring great versatility to the floor each time out. Are they the only ones? Absolutely not. But these five ladies stood out in my mind almost immediately when I thought of this category.

Nina Garner

– My gut tells me that Nina is going to have a big Spring & Summer and really improve her recruiting. She is extremely long, wiry, fluid, quick, and bouncy. She has such quick feet, she can sit down and defend point guards with her length. Honestly, she can guard basically any position but post, however, she can block shots from help-side. Offensively, she is a slashing attacker right now, but her jump-shot is starting to come along.

– Bren, like Garner (above), is an extremely long, wiry, and fluid kid. Bren is a lot more offensive-minded, however. She has touch to the 3-point line, she can put it on the floor and attack the basket straight-line, but she is probably most effective in the mid-post, where she can shoot or drive it as well. She is a hustler and is willing to get on the floor or play physically, when needed. I really like her upside, especially if she can gain a little strength.

– Ayla is a stronger, more physical version of the above two. She doesn’t mind physicality and will defend interior players for Lake Central. She has some bounce, but she is mostly a North/South athlete in the open floor. Offensively, she can score it inside of the arc, but she is very dangerous outside of the arc, especially if she can find rhythm and get on a roll. During the grassroots season, she plays exclusively on the perimeter.

– Monique hasn’t grown since I first saw her in 8th Grade, but her game has changed as drastically as anyone’s. Back then, she was using her size, length, and great explosiveness to dominate opponents around the paint. She would post up, finish with ease, and collect as many rebounds as she wanted. Now, she has become a talented shooter with a quick release. She is still one of the best athletes in Indiana’s 2025 class, and she is a versatile defender.

– Taylor is another player who has greatly improved over the past 12-18 months. She has a solid to athletic frame, nice length, and she moves well in most directions. She, too, was more of an interior player when she was younger, and at times she still prefers to play in the mid-post, where she can knock down the 15-footer or get to the basket. However, she has built her perimeter skill up, and she’s nearly a full-time wing.
