Every time you step on the floor, people are watching. It’s not just mom and dad, it’s the community, supporters, basketball heads, college coaches. What you do means something. Every day. It means something. In practice, in games, in training sessions, getting up shots in the driveway, getting up shots in the park, on the barn, against the house, it all means something.
When you wake up, attack your studies, and work on your craft. These schools out here, they know about you. But it’s up to you to determine your altitude. You want to be D1. Go give D1 effort. You want to go play college ball. Put the work in. Your dreams and goals are attainable, you just have to go out and show it. Show up to show out. Show everyone your work and prove that you belong.
Let this game take you places. Near or far, let basketball open the doors to a bigger future. Let the game expand your horizons. Network for you. See places you may only dream of. It can. I promise you it can.
Why am I writing this? Cause I know you got it. I know it’s in you and I know you have what it takes to make it. I know there are times you don’t get that pat on the back or that immediate gratification in whatever form. But I believe in you. We believe in you. This state believes in you.
So silence the haters. Keep your head down and just work. Matter of fact, just grind. Compete. Win the day, win the game, win the possession, just win! What you do matters. Don’t let a day slip away with you getting 1% better. When it’s all said and done, you can look back and see where you left your mark on this game, for your school, for the sisterhood, and in this state. You belong. You matter. Now go out and show out. Earn your place amongst the best.
