Seaman’s Becker Has Gritty Performance Against De Soto

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For the second time this season, I scouted the Seaman Vikings. This time it was a home tilt against United Kansas Conference opponent De Soto. The Vikings came from behind to squeak out a thrilling 50-47 victory to defend their home court.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here is a look at four prospects who stood out in the Seaman win.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='349798' first='Anna' last='Becker'], </strong>5'11”<strong>, </strong>G/F, Seaman, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>If Becker were to star in a John Wayne movie it would be “True Grit.” That's what the stud junior plays with. Becker carried the Vikings in the second half and scored the game-winning basket. She finished with a game-high 17 points and was clutch from the free throw line shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from the stripe. Becker is ranked No. 3 overall in the Class of 2025. She is a physical athlete who can score from all over the place but is willing to fight for the tough basket.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='872368' first='Jaida' last='Stallbaumer']</strong>, 5'8”, G, Seaman, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Stallbaumer did the heavy lifting in the score column in the first half for Seaman. The junior guard picked up the team as her older sister Taylin struggled to score. The young guard scored 15 points and converted one 3-point field goal. She plays an even more impactful role on the defensive end. In the win over De Soto she finished with four steals and two rebounds. She is fast and plays smart defensively refusing to make silly reach-in fouls.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='722996' first='Maddie' last='Gragg'], </strong>5'10”, F, Seaman, ‘26</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Gragg had the best of her two performances that I have scouted. She was a force on the boards collecting a team-high nine rebounds. She scored nine points and canned two important 3-point field goals. She is a three-level scoring threat, but she missed way too many put-back opportunities. Gragg is also an exceptional passer in the paint who finished with three assists and one steal.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='766538' first='Ava' last='Esser'], </strong>6'1”, PF/C, Seaman, ‘25</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Esser came up big in the second half. The majority of her seven total rebounds came in the second frame as did her lone bucket in the contest. She had her hands full guarding De Soto's [player_tooltip player_id='453778' first='Ava' last='O'Brien'] in the paint and worked hard to clean the glass. She has a big reach and can become more of a scoring threat than she is right now.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
