Continue ReadingThe playoffs are right around the corner and this Class 4A contest had the feel of an upset that in a few weeks would shake up a playoff bracket. Behind super sophomore Sadie Franklin Sadie Franklin 5'6" | CG Blanchard | 2026 State OK , the host Lady Lions nosed ahead early and traded blows with top 20 ranked Weatherford. To close out the third quarter, Blanchard had the Lady Eagles at arm’s length. But the strength of Weatherford’s upperclassmen would prove to be too much, tying the game up in the game’s dramatic final moments. Then it would be a Lady Eagle underclassmen, Reese Roof who would hit the big shot in the closing seconds that would secure a 49-46 victory.
Marley Teasley
Marley Teasley
Teasley’s future lies on the softball pitch but for now she’s a fantastic offensive focal point for the Weatherford. It started with her finding the pockets along the free throw line against Blanchard’s zone. Where she has a quality mid-range jumper or can make the right read to find open teammates. After some early misses from three, she closed out the first half by proving she has range on her jumper. Something that would continue throughout the second half. But when they needed tough buckets late, Teasley didn’t settle for jumpers. Twice in the closing minutes, she got to the rim and finished “Old Fashion” three point plays, including one that tied it at 44 all.
For long spurts of the game, Franklin looked unstoppable off the bounce for Blanchard. From pushing it in transition, to finding the gaps on offense, the sophomore is outstanding at navigating and pushing through traffic to get to the rim. Where she finishes high and makes good use of the glass to be a highly efficient finisher. If a defender leans or bites at all on a ball fake or jab step, Franklin will make them pay by whizzing right on by. She also has nifty pass fakes while driving that left defenders guessing and got her quality looks at the rim. While the sophomore was best getting to the rim, she hit some big shots from distance as well. To close out the third she hit a big three that put Blanchard up six. It was impressive complete performance for the skilled guard.
Highlights
Brinlee Glassey

The post presence for the Eagles, she came alive in the second half with rebounding and providing good shot contesting without fouling. The senior didn’t seem to bite or get over aggressive when looking to protect the rim, it was good fundamentals keeping her arms up and her feet down. She really helped her team’s comeback cause by getting more active on the offensive glass. Glassey even put Weatherford up late with a good finish at the rim.
Reese Roof
Reese Roof
The only note jotted down for the sophomore was arguably the biggest one for the game. “Hit game winning three”. With 17 seconds left, Roof took an inbounds pass. Pitched it ahead to her teammates, and seemingly was forgotten by the Blanchard defense as she trotted to the three point line. Her teammates didn’t forget her, and she drained the open three like it was a layup. The three points would be the difference between the two teams and got her team a big road victory.
Mariah Ligons
Mariah Ligons
An energetic forward presence, the junior particularly stood out with some athletic offensive rebound snags. Along with her activity level on the glass, she was very reliable in the 6-15 feet range. From one to two dribble pull ups to catch and shoot opportunities, Ligons was a reliable secondary scoring option for the Lions. With her activity level, a solid athletic profile and a long wingspan, the junior could be a sleeper prospect.

The multi-sport standout point guard most often made her mark on the defensive end. Especially with her “hair on fire” ball pressure during the closing minutes of the game. From pressuring the ball, to getting on the floor for loose balls, Epps was seemingly everywhere. Especially applying ball pressure in the backcourt, which turned the tide of the game and set up the offensive heroics of her teammates mentioned above.
