I always say no one knows more about this which is relevant as well as #ThereIsNoMe because I’m a parent of a WNBA player, I helped assist players in achieving their next-level dreams as a club coach and being the first person to put Texas kids on the MAP as an evaluator and that should close the conversation
I also say that a close game does not equate to a GOOD GAME yet defending champion Clark lost to Brennan in double OT, special S/O to Arianna Roberson Arianna Roberson 6'4" | C SA Clark | 2024 State TX and Natalie Huff Natalie Huff 5'7" | SG SA Clark | 2024 State TX for putting their teams on their backs and helping to make this game special. Another S/O to Hope Edwards Hope Edwards 5'6" | PG Leander | 2025 State TX for banking an NBA 3 at the buzzer to send her Cedar Park squad into OT, which they won in and are heading to state but HERE’S BRENNAN
Flemings was “in the zone” and would not or rather could not be stopped on her way to dropping 47 in the double OT game. #D1Lock is what I called her in the 5th grade and a year later I said “throw away the key” because this young lady has the W written all over her. Yeah, she can facilitate and her court vision is a huge plus yet she comprehends the game and KNOWS when to take over. Her late 3 helped send into overtime yet her jumper in OT2 sealed it because she kept shifting the momentum throughout the game and did what BIG TIME players do un crunch time
Ross is “long and athletic” which will always be the base but her interior defense coupled with her timing played a huge part in the win. She made key stops and blocks, altered and deflected shots also, plus she rebounded strongly on both ends of the court. Ross improved outside shooting over the years has made her as legitimate mid to long-range scorer, which came in handy, but so did her attacking off the dribble as well as finishing around the basket
Sotello is tough and battling nagging injuries all season should give even the novice a picture in their heads on what I’m saying yet here’s the deal, her ability to play within herself and handle the ball under pressure has always been a joy for me to see. Her BB-IQ and ability to run a team when she flips from the 2 to the 1 played a big part in their teams success yet her ability to get hers in flow needs to be mentioned as well. Over the years, I’ve watched her delver under pressure and her deep 3 was one of the many sparks that got them going in the second half
Louis has been a PGH Circuit BREAKER over the past few seasons with her club team and her making ALL THIS or THAT in each event places her in a different category because she is a “long and athletic” guard, which is also the base, so I knew she could score both off the dribble as well as outside and she made those around her better on her club team but what also impresses me is how she found ways to be relevant on her star studded high school squad and her big steal. yeah she plays the passing lane, which led to a basket, helped ignite her squad when they needed it
