Continue ReadingStatistics don’t always tell the whole story, but they can give you a small glimpse into a player. For example, when we’re nearing the end of the season and I see someone shooting over 40% from 3 while averaging more than two 3-pointers per game, I feel safe calling those players some of the top shooters in the state. Why? Because that means they are staying consistent through multiple games versus multiple different opponents. Also, the stats on KHSAA are accessible by any opposing coach, so unless they simply choose to not use that resource, they are going into the game knowing that specific player is a high-level shooter. Below I’ll discuss the top shooters this season based on average makes per game and percentage (sorted by percentage).
Aaliyah Lynch Aaliyah Lynch 5'6" | SG Owsley County | 2025 State KY (Owsley County)
Games played: 28
3-Point Field Goals Made Per Game: 2.3
Percentage: 48.5% (64/132)
Additional Info: Lynch is truly making her senior year memorable as she has been lighting it up from deep all season long. She catches ready to fire and has a quick, high release. Her teammates have also done a great job of drawing help defense and kicking it to her on the perimeter. Lynch is one of four Lady Owls who are averaging double figures this season. She is currently averaging 12.5 PPG and her team has a 21-8 record.
Kinsley Molden Kinsley Molden 5'6" | SG Southwestern | 2025 State KY (Southwestern)
Games played: 22
3-Point Field Goals Made Per Game: 3.4
Percentage: 45.5% (75/165)
Additional Info: Molden may have missed some games this season due to injury, but not even an injury could slow her down when she returned to the court. Deep range, strong form, quick release… everything you’d want from your shooter. However, she is much more than just a shooter. She is a 3-level scoring threat, averaging 16.5 PPG, and a player who contributes in many other ways beyond scoring, including finding and creating good looks for her teammates. Really a complete player who should get a lot of looks from college programs this offseason.
Hadley French Hadley French 5'4" | PG Madison Southern | 2026 State KY (Madison Southern)
Games played: 26
3-Point Field Goals Made Per Game: 3.3
Percentage: 42.9% (85/198)
Additional Info: French is a player who I wish I got to see play more consistently because I’ve walked away so impressed by her game every time I have gotten to watch her. Her drives to get into the paint or to the rim are tough and teams have to respect that when they try to defend her. That assignment is made even tougher when you consider the percentage she’s shooting from 3 and the way she finds and relocates to the openings on the perimeter. Only a sophomore, expect to continue hearing a lot about French and how she is a top 2026 in the state.
Brooklyn Naranjo (Hickman County)
Games played: 16
3-Point Field Goals Made Per Game: 2.8
Percentage: 42.7% (44/103)
Additional Info: Naranjo is a player I have not gotten to watch play this season, so I don’t want to speak on what I see from her game, but I will tell you a little bit about what she has accomplished this season. The junior guard is one of two players averaging double figures for the Lady Falcons. She is averaging 11.1 PPG and 1.9 RPG. It’s no surprise to see Naranjo knock down outside shots at a high percentage because she’s already proven she can hit outside shots with consistency. As a sophomore, she shot 39.2% from 3 and averaged 2.3 makes per game.
Alicia Mangrum (Grace James)
Games played: 13
3-Point Field Goals Made Per Game: 2.6
Percentage: 42% (34/81)
Additional Info: Mangrum has only played in 14 games, but that is because Grace James has only played 14 games since most of their team is still in middle school and they were also playing their middle school season until this past weekend. Mangrum is one of those middle schoolers and has proven to be a top 2028 player in Kentucky. She is averaging 18.9 PPG and has helped her team kick off their inaugural season with a 12-2 record. Mangrum has good length, good form on her shot, and can knock down shots inside or out.
Caleigh McCoy (Phelps)
Games played: 28
3-Point Field Goals Made Per Game: 2.5
Percentage: 41.9% (70/167)
Additional Info: McCoy is one of two players on this list that I have not gotten to watch play this season, so I’m not going to make up an analysis of her game, but I will give you a small glimpse into the strong season she’s had this year. The sophomore guard is her team’s leading scorer and shooter. The Lady Hornets have a 16-13 record and McCoy is averaging 19.6 PPG and 3.8 RPG. She has scored over 500 points this season alone after averaging 16.8 PPG as a freshman.
Electra Lovely-Tolbert (DuPont Manual)
Games played: 24
3-Point Field Goals Made Per Game: 2.4
Percentage: 41.9% (57/136)
Additional Info: Lovely-Tolbert has taken a huge leap this season and has played a huge role in the Lady Crimsons success. Last season, she played in about half of Manual’s games and averaged 4 PPG while attempting 51 shots overall (28 from the 3-point line). This season, she has started every game and is her team’s second-leading scorer averaging 12 PPG. She has over 4x the number of attempts she did last season and has been her team’s most consistent threat from the perimeter.
Paityn Isom Paityn Isom 5'6" | PG North Hardin | 2024 State KY (North Hardin)
Games played: 28
3-Point Field Goals Made Per Game: 2.5
Percentage: 41.7% (70/168)
Additional Info: Isom is a strong player overall. While she is clearly a consistent outside threat with deep range, she does a little bit of everything on the court. On top of her scoring, she is a strong floor general who facilitates the offense for her team. Isom is averaging 17.1 PPG and shooting 48.9% from the field. Her team currently has a 23-6 record and she is one of the top uncommitted seniors. While her stats are impressive, when you watch the composure she plays with and the effort she constantly gives, you’ll be even more impressed with Isom.
Trinity Rowe Trinity Rowe 5'7" | PG Pikeville | 2024 State KY (Pikeville)
Games played: 26
3-Point Field Goals Made Per Game: 2.8
Percentage: 40.9% (74/181)
Additional Info: Going into this season, I had a short list of players I felt would be strong candidates for Miss Kentucky Basketball. As the season has gone on, Rowe has remained at the top of that list. She is the player every coach wishes to have and the teammate every player wishes to have on their side. I know this article is about top shooters in the state and Rowe certainly falls into that category, but she is one of the top players in the state overall. She is such a valuable player. She sees the floor so well, makes some of the best passes, is a constant scoring threat, and is a true coach on the floor. Rowe holds the all-time scoring record, the all-time assists record, the single-season assist record, and the single-game assist record at Pikeville.
