Six teams came to compete against one another from across the state trying to take home some hardware. Let’s take a look at the guards from the games that you should know including some new names.
Ale’na Lewis was doing a nice job attacking the basket battling contact for her points. She set herself up for the open look from deep bringing some energy to her team in the second quarter. She was constantly hustling all over the court making smart cuts and being ready for the pass or the steal on fast breaks.
Maya McCorkle was playing tough defense guarding the opponent’s leading scorer. She was flashing in and out of the paint shifting the defense and finding the open look to score off the pass. She was making some acrobatic moves getting to the basket and scoring off the glass even with hands in her face. She had back to back plays scoring five points in a row with her shot from deep and her ability to attack the basket from the top of the key.
Khloe Thompson was making shots from all over the court knocking down midrange jumpers in transition, and she showed off her range shooting the ball. She hustled up the court knowing where to find the openings for a jump shot to break a press, and she was ready for the pass on a fast break to score at the rim. She didn’t back down on defense being ready to prevent her opponents from finding a path to the basket.
