In this article, we cover a handful of prospects that have continued to work, no matter the circumstances placed around them. They have shown that no matter what happens, they are going to give it their all as they finish their regular season campaigns.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Story Rasby Story Rasby 5’7″ | SG Sutherland | 2025 NE is a player that makes a living on the defensive side of the basketball. Rasby is a Guard with a unique play-style. She makes good choices and really shows out with her defensive demeanor in each contest. She is very good at jumping to the basketball, she understands spacing and when to go for a steal, she possesses active hands, and she is selfless enough to pass the ball ahead once taking it away. In general this winter, Rasby has been a main contributor for her Sutherland team on both sides of the basketball. She is giving it her all on each night and really looking the part. You can tell that she has a good feel for the game and that makes her all the better. As it pertains to Junior Guards who have some promise on the hardwood, Rasby is in that conversation with how she is ending this 2023-2024 season.
Whenever we talk about PLV High School, we speak about their star PG but another player that has been stepping up consistently for this group is Guard, Jayda Richardson Jayda Richardson 5’7″ | PG Papillion-LaVista | 2027 NE . Richardson is only a Freshman but she is the player that is going to be taking over after this season comes to an end and their main contributors graduate. From everything that I have seen so far, Richardson has a base to build on. She is solid but still very raw in a lot of aspects of the game but there are things that I do really like. She is someone that isn’t afraid of contact and she gets to the line, multiple times a game, usually making her attempts from the stripe. With anyone that is so young in their high school career, her progression will be the key but this season has been a good indication of what the future could hold for both Rasby individually and the PLV program as a whole.
I had the opportunity to watch Haydin Jackson Haydin Jackson 5’8″ | SG Bennington | 2027 NE prior to her Freshman year at Bennington High School and you could tell that she was going to produce right away. Don’t get me wrong, Jackson has a lot of room to grow in this game but she displays a lot of positives already. For one, she stays calm and in control. Even if a team presses her or brings a double, she adapts. Second, she can knock down shots when the ball is rotated back to her. Third, off of the dribble, she is nice. She can score with a nice step up jumper or she can get all the way to the hoop for a finish. When you combined all of this, you see promise in someone that is really just starting their basketball journey. She may not be the best Freshman on her own team this season with how Skylar Johnson is playing but if she progresses at a steady rate over the next few seasons, you better watch out. She could be a killer.
The Pleasanton Bulldogs have a few players that have shown some promise on the floor this winter. One of their main contributors is Senior Guard, Natalie Rasmussen Natalie Rasmussen 5’6″ | PG Pleasanton | 2024 NE . Rasmussen, a 5’6 PG, is an athlete that controls pace and doesn’t force too much action. If she gets a steal in the open court, she is either going to beat everyone down the floor for a layup or she is going to back it out and set up the offense. Either way, it usually works out well for the Bulldogs. I’m not exactly sure what the future holds for both groups here but from what I’ve seen, they should win some more games before this season comes to a close. They run a strategic defense and are very good at turning over their opponents. If they continue to stay on the path that they are currently on, they are going to be pleased with how their year has gone when it finally does come to an end.

Jolon Blackbird Jolon Blackbird SG Winnebago | 2027 NE is another player that may only be a Freshman but over the next 3 years, she is going to be someone that we talk about a few more times because of her production on the Varsity floor. Blackbird is a Guard that has stepped up and shown out this year. She is second in her team in scoring with 11 PPG and first in Assists with 2 per game. This may not seem like a lot but this is only the beginning. If Blackbird can build on this, she is going to be producing at a higher level than most for the rest of her high school career. Her team, the Winnebago Indians, may only be 6-10 throughout their first 16 games this winter but they are young. Right now it’s a learning experience for the future. As long as they can adapt to the situations thrown in front of them and learn from their mistakes, they are going to succeed in the long run. There is no doubt about that.
