Hopkins really put the team on her back against Roosevelt as they dealt with constant full court pressure. She was one of the few players on her team who could get consistent penetration in the half court and actually applied some nice moves when she had even a little bit of space. It was a really rough first quarter for both teams, but Hopkins started finding success getting downhill, got tall on defense to block some shots, and really created most of the action all game for the Cougars. They ended up losing a close game but have one more to go against West Seattle to determine their seed for the district two tournament.

Hamburg had one of the more dominant performances I saw this week. She was battling inside against Ballard and was a big factor in helping them pull out the dub. Going to work in the post, Hamburg used multiple moves and seemed to always get the edge on her defender, converting a number of tough buckets in the paint and drawing several trips to the line. When she did happen to miss, she was Johnny on the spot to grab the board and clean up after herself. She’s a pretty smooth and long player who demonstrated good athleticism, a nice stroke at the line, and great toughness. She had a nice first half but really turned up the pressure in the second half and was a key player in their win against Ballard.
Hopkins immediately caught my attention against Woodinville when she splashed in a deep 3-pointer. Although Bothell came out on the wrong end of things, Hopkins still stood out as one of the more polished players in the game, deploying a variety of moves and footwork to create space away from the hoop. She has a soft shooting touch and was able to hit from different areas too. She shot well from 3, made a nice move from the post to plant her foot and spin away from the defender for the jumper, then showed she can cover some ground laterally with a nice step back in the midrange to bury another shot.
Kahrimanovic put on a very efficient performance against Bothell and showed some innate ability to handle the ball and make the right decision in different situations. She was able to attack space in transition to set up passes, one time hitting Jacey Eggers Jacey Eggers 6’2″ | PF Woodinville | 2024 State WA with a flashy pass in step for an easy layup. She also showed good recognition of space to create her own shot, hitting a nice pullup off a quick crossover in the midrange, and she showed some range splashing in a 3 earlier in the game. She’s a player who looks real comfortable operating with the ball and stepping up when her team needs her.
The Puyallup post came up huge and was able to carry a big portion of the offense in a tight game against Olympia. Both teams struggled to get going early on, but Weaver was the main bright spot in a tough first half, getting good position inside and drawing fouls, earning her way at the foul line. She continued to out leverage her opponents and get good catches close to the hoop where she could power through defenders to pour in buckets. She also kept pace at the foul line and played a pivotal role on the glass to limit Olympia’s possessions.

Eggers played a pretty physical game against Bothell, but she wasn’t just trying to out-muscle girls all game. She used change of pace, attacked from different areas, and largely kept defenders on their toes while trying to guard her. She mixed in quick posts in the middle when the ball swung to the top, made quick drives off the catch near the perimeter, and was able to slow it down with her post game on the blocks. She was a big factor on the glass too and generally looks like someone who’s able to slow the game down and anticipate action.
