Expert Analysis

The Puyallup post came up huge and was able to carry a big portion of the offense in a tight game against Olympia. Both teams struggled to get going early on, but Weaver was the main bright spot in a tough first half, getting good position inside and drawing fouls, earning her way at the foul line. She continued to out leverage her opponents and get good catches close to the hoop where she could power through defenders to pour in buckets. She also kept pace at the foul line and played a pivotal role on the glass to limit Olympia’s possessions.

Maddy is a true back to the basket post player. She is a tireless worker when on the floor, and pursues rebounds despite having a size advantage over most any other player. She gets second chance buckets regularly and is always going to flirt with the double double. In fact, I don’t see many nights she won’t have one in 2024. She is good at establishing position deep in the post and scoring around the rim. She has good footwork and as I mentioned, she is always a threat to grab her own misses for second chances. She plays with a passion and toughness that make her a real problem for opposing teams with the size she has to go with it. She was a an all league selection last season as well.

The board queen herself. She is DOMINANT on the glass and uses her body very well down low. She easily grabs 10-15 rebounds a night and also contributes on the offensive side nicely. She is patient in the paint and allows the game to cone to her. She doesn’t rush anything and is a very unselfish player on the court.

#18 – Maddy has made some tremendous strides in her game. She puts in the work with a mental toughness that makes her a high ceiling player. A true post player with great size. The toughness and rebounding are something college coaches can be assured of. She has turned into a double double player on a nightly basis. You won’t ever fault her for the work ethic and want. She gets after it.

Speaking of double doubles, Maddie is a tough player in the post who is on a mission when she gets the ball in the paint. She is a relentless rebounder who gets second chances for her team. She understands how to to demand the ball in the post and has good footwork. She is strong and once she establishes position, she knows how to score. She is a prospect on the rise and ready to leave her mark next season. rn

How do you think your team and yourself performed throughout this season?rn-I don’t think my team performed to our full potential this year, I think we had a lot of talent we just didn’t make all of it click together as a team. But I know that leaves a lot of room to Improve for next year and returning people to improve individually and as a team. I think I preformed really well this season, I was kind of surprised by it honestly. I put in a lot of work in the off season and going into high school I was really just thinking “let’s see where this goes” and it really went far. I averaged a double double and had fun, even though we didn’t always win.
What was the biggest obstacle you and your team faced this season?rn-The biggest obstacle we faced as a team was taking care of the basketball. We had a lot of issues at times trying break a press which just gave the other team more scoring opportunities than we had.
What do you think you improved most on the court?rn-I think I improved on finishing around the rim and creating buckets for myself improved. My sophomore seasons i had like eight points maybe eight boards. But I got a lot better finishing all around wether it was on put backs or on post moves.
What are you looking to improve before next season?rn-For next season, I want to add a few more moves to bag, but I also really want to work on my free throws and being confident in driving and shorting a little more. I free throws aren’t bad but they weren’t as consistent as i would have liked them to be. I drove a few times this season but I think it would add a whole new level to my game if I could drive some more next season and in my AAU season.
Who are some teammates that you think stood out this season? Who are some teammates who could have breakout years next year in your eyes?rn-This season a stand out player for me was my point guard Emily Randolph. She extremely quick, she has a lot of one-on-one offensive ability and the ability to create for her teammates. I think she just got better as the season went on too.Next season, I’m really excited for two players, our returning shooting guard

. Lola can be a pretty knock down shooter, and she’s also probably our best one-on-one defender. I really think the sky can be the limit for her if she puts in the work in the off season. I’m also really excited for my younger sister,

to be playing with me. Laney can also be a knock down shooter, but she tall and long and has some post moves in her bag. She’s also able to drive and she has a really high basketball IQ for someone her age, even if she did have a double double or if she had an off shooting night, she probably had five or more assists just because she passes so well and she reads the floor like no one I’ve ever seen.

Maddy is such a force down low. She’s starting to gather Division 1 coaches attention and rightfully so. She named herself the Board Queen and she 100% lives up to the nickname. She is aggressive on the glass and there are very few players who can matchup with her. With being able to play with some of the top guards during the AAU season with FBC, she will only continue to improve.

is a force on the boards. She pulls down many offensive rebounds and defensive rebounds nicely. She uses her size and strength to her advantage very well making it hard for opposing teams to find matchups for her. She’s patient with the ball down low and doesn’t mind contact in the paint.

She comes in at #21 in the updated rankings. She is one of the more physical post players on the list. She is great at using her size and strength to her advantage. She doesn’t mind the contact in the paint and is a tough match-up for any term. She will get after it on rebounds and gets a lot of second chance points for her team. Once she gets the ball deep in the paint, it’s usually a bucket.

Maddy has had a very steady and dominating season. Her name is going under the radar quite a bit but she has the talents of a D1 player. She is a force down low in the paint and reads the ball coming off the rim very well. Against Curtis she dropped 28 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for yet another big time double-double game.
