Lucia Billish
Lucia Billish
Billish is a quick little point guard who did it on both ends in a victory against Ingraham in their Metro League qualifier game on Tuesday. Lincoln put the pressure on the Rams and Billish was a big part of setting the tone early on with energy and defensive intensity. She got some pokes and tips on the defensive side and was also able to speed things up on the offensive end, getting to the rim and showing some nice finishing on the left side of the hoop. Lincoln got knocked out by Blanchet on Wednesday, but Billish is one to watch next season after helping the Lynx to a 14-7 record in 2023-24.
Audrey Richardson
Audrey Richardson
Richardson was a nice boost off the bench for the Roughriders in a tight game against Holy Names. She got it going in the second quarter, getting some nice action to the rim and using that left hand to finish around defenders. She got active in the backcourt with their full court pressure and snagged a couple of steals, but the most impressive part of her game was her shooting. She has a high, rainbow shot and splashed in a 3 while also looking really solid at the foul line.
After getting outplayed against Emerald Ridge in the opening round of the SPSL 4A tournament Puyallup bounced back with two consecutive wins against Olympia and South Kitsap. One of their freshman, Laney Weaver Laney Weaver 5’8″ | SG Puyallup | 2027 WA , had a big hand in their game against Olympia scoring inside and out, and showing some hustle to get to 50/50 balls. She looked good hitting the 3 but really stood out with her paint finishes, getting scrappy with a hustle second-chance bucket and then utilizing a strong pivot to swivel around her defender and find the angle to finish off the glass.
Highlights
Lou Shernoff
Lou Shernoff
Shernoff was another promising freshman on display for Lincoln in a win against Ingraham. She showed some promise early on, making nice passes ahead of the defense in transition, finding lanes to attack in the half court, and keeping active hands on their press. Then she really started to find her rhythm on the offensive end by changing her speeds up off the dribble and setting up defenders with a hard cross. Shernoff put in a solid two-way performance and helped Lincoln put the game just about out of reach by the end of the third quarter.
Kyli Meyer
Kyli Meyer
Meyer hardly looked like a freshman in an intense game against Franklin Tuesday night. The Beavers came up just short but Meyer did just about all she could to keep her team in it. She immediately showed off a promising combo of size and skill on the perimeter, handling the ball with ease and regularity. She was constantly pushing the ball up the floor and keeping her focus down the court, finding teammates with long passes in transition and putting good zip on them too. She was all over the game, blocking a couple shots inside, showing great footwork to split defenders at times, knocking in some 3s, and even draining a half-court shot at the end of the third quarter. She’s a very promising freshman who should now be on everyone’s radar.
Speed and energy are the name of the game for this Roosevelt freshman. She announced her presence against Holy Names on Monday by snatching four first half steals and at least one more in the second half. She was all over passing lanes, getting up into ballhandlers in their full court press and showed some outstanding quickness and reactions. Curtis also sunk a couple of paint buckets, using the glass and finishing with either hand. And although she wasn’t particularly effective outside the paint in the first half, she came back in the second to nail two big 3s extending their lead in the fourth quarter. Holy Names kept fighting back in the final few minutes, but Curtis was there each time to stave them off, hitting a big runner in the lane to make it a six-point lead with 30 seconds left, then sinking a pair at the line with 16 seconds left to seal the eight-point win.
Bieler adds yet another element to an already well-rounded Woodinville team. She’s a quick little point guard who had a great game against Bothell, playing with pace and control on both ends of the floor. She showed a really easy looking stroke from deep, though most of her shots came on the go and closer to the rim. She moved the ball around well, showed good vision in transition, and overall seemed to have a good feel for creating with the ball in her hands. Bieler also made a couple of plays on defense with quick feet and good hands.
The tall Olympia guard had a solid game in a tough loss to Puyallup. She plays aggressively all over the court and really did a nice job getting penetration and getting to the rim. She was active defensively, popping up quick to meet ballhandlers on the perimeter or coming from behind to double. She got numerous tips and strips, was quick to loose balls, and showed good speed to run down plays. Schaff also hit a couple of 3s and shows a really promising skillset for a young Olympia team that has a lot to look forward to.
