Week 11: Dukes Defend Home Court

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Week 11 of the girls' basketball season featured an outstanding slate of games including one thrilling Tri-Valley Conference- Red matchup between cross-town rivals Essexville Garber and Bay City John Glenn. Garber was packed full for this matchup and the gym was electric. An aside happened when a basketball lodged itself atop the backboard and a pole was used to take the basketball down mid-game. She pushed the team with 18 pts and 4 steals, while contributing 7 rebounds. Rylee hit 3's and demonstrated multiple finishing moves around the rim. She has high pick ups, shot fakes, sweeps, and hostage dribbles in her tool box to beat defenders and win one on one matchups. Rylee pressures the ball and anticipates passes to create turnovers. She caught and drained a 3 off the catch, deflected passes, and finished multiple contested floaters in the paint off of drives. Kailey has excellent vision and scans the floor to find open teammates: she dished a dime with her left down the baseline to an open shooter. Kailey communicates actively and directs teammates on the floor, while working hard on both ends. She secured 10 rebounds for the Dukes Friday and made key hustle plays that helped the team win (5 deflections). Jordan used a reverse pivot then low ripped her way into a strong contested finish at the rim. She had a double double with 19 points and 1o rebounds, using her quickness, length, and athleticism to cause havoc for defenders. Audrey knocked down a 3 from the wing, finished through contact at the rim, and secured key offensive rebounds. Her strong finishes at the rim and shot making ability at all three levels make her a challenge to defend.
