I saw several players at my event who have either changed programs and (or) coming back from injuries and are showing they are ready for whatever on their run before the senior season in high school comes around.
AER Lady Thunder has a couple that I’ve already dropped, 6’3 Naomi Taylor Naomi Taylor 6'3" | C Crockett | 2025 State TX , and 5’9 Natalia Galvan Natalia Galvan 5'7" | CG Mumford | 2025 State TX left lasting first impressions. Laura Sierra Laura Sierra 6'0" | C San Antonio St Anthony's | 2025 State TX is back with the San Antonio Islanders and was sending messages but here are some others
Bruce has been a fill up the stat sheet type of player from the first time I saw her and when you’re a double-double waiting to happen, in high school or either club basketball, that’s pretty impressive. She has already made an impact with her new squad and since she can score from outside, as well as take it off the dribble, she keeps the defender on their toes. She rebounds on both ends, scores inside the pain and plays solid defense
Highlights
Jazz Betts
Jazz Betts
Betts has had me saying “all Betts are off” since I first caught her and playing in pain the latter part the year yet still being effective is just how she is, so as she utilizes her strength and frame to overpower players around the basket and score, it’s also good to see her not only rebounding on both ends but handling the ball and starting the break yet her interior defense remains solid, the plus is she’s guarding her man outside of it also
Ashlynn Hollis
Ashlynn Hollis
Hollis is “long and athletic” and she has come back with ease to show she can be a multi threat scorer and here’s why. She handles ball well and has a deceptive first step to attack the basket and finish. She can post up smaller guards to score around the basket yet she also elevates over taller players to score inside the paint. She rebounds, plays the passing lane and defends yet her jumper is also something that she brings to the table
Melanie Hodges
Melanie Hodges
Hodges came back and helped her school team make a deep run and she is close to being 100% which is not good for the defensive players who attempt to guard her. She’s strong and powerful off the dribble and watching her score with players literally hanging on her always has me smiling yet her hitting the boards, on both ends, and scoring around the basket, putbacks included is nice. Guess what else is nice, her defense because her lateral movement and understanding how to apply heat …
Raquel Hawk
Raquel Hawk
Hawk has the right last name because she actually enjoys applying pressure baseline to baseline. She dives for loose balls, in the air as well as on the floor. She understands how to set the offensive player up to take charges. She beats them to the spot and has nice hands to come away with steals, playing the passing lane gets the same results, yet she scores off the dribble, after contact included and the short jumper is looking good as wel
Wilson is “long and athletic” and that will always be what, THE BASE, and her timing is one thing that has remained constant because she blocks shots and handles the ball afterward, she alters and deflects them too, yet she also handles the ball after rebounding and can go coast to coast and score. She has a nice first step to attack in the set, plays solid defense and she plays the passing lane
Madsion Wilson
Madsion Wilson
Wilson is one of the most improved players I’ve seen over the past 3 seasons and that desire was always there so she added mass, grew a little more both on and off the court and now she’s hard to handle on either end. She too is long and athletic and scoring off the dribble after contact is nice, especially when she is doing it off balance. Her midrange has shot up, she is defending in and outside the paint plus she’s rebounding on both ends of the court
