Cornish netted 11 points in the opening frame and finished with 25 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists. The lightning quick playmaker scored from all three levels. Cornish scored with both hands downhill. She does a good job getting to her spots and can burn defenders that try to run her off the three-point line with her off the dribble game.
Cupcake brought elite effort on both sides of the ball. Gresham is adept at crashing in for offensive rebounds. The bouncy swingman has a nose for the ball and understands how the read the ball off the rim. Shakira hit a pair of mid-range jumpers and found the rest of her points in the paint. She is a versatile defender that can guard inside and out. Gresham posted 19 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks.
Kennedie is a bucket getter. The KIPP Atlanta transfer has a smooth release on her jumper, able to get to her three-ball off the dribble. She sank four threes, showcasing deep range with the ability to shoot over screens. Cooper totaled 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Expect Cooper to explode next season as a scorer with more shots likely to come her way.
Part of a 10-three barrage, Cayden cashed in on four threes, hitting two from the corners and two from the top of the key including a deep step-back. Cornish’s slick offensive firepower is coupled by her quickness on defense. The sophomore tallied 16 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 4 steals.
In her final game as a Wolverine, Brooks was tremendous on offense with her scoring touch. Jordan dumped in a game-high 29 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists, burying five threes. Brooks scored Union Grove’s first 10 points of the game. She drilled tough pull-up threes and used her speed to get to the hoop and draw fouls, shooting 10-14 from the line. The speedy playmaker found success penetrating and dumping off to her posts under the basket. Brooks’ recruitment is heating up.
The springy forward found success in the second half as the Wolverines began to work her the ball inside. Smith scored on a pretty spin move in the post and converted a physical And-1 baseline drive. Smith had 10 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block. D-II schools are pushing hard.
