Let’s be real here…..Savoury is one of the top 2027 prospects in the country. Her height, strength, ball skills and basketball IQ are off the charts for a freshman. While she can carry the load, she doesn’t have to. Belleville is a very well coached team with a ton of talent. With Savoury leading the way, they have a legitimate shot at walking away with hardware.
Zajac is a star, both future and present here in Michigan. She’s one of the best rebounding freshman in the state, and probably beyond that. It’s not just about her strength when it comes to grabbing boards, but just as much so it’s about the work she puts in to gain position. Her Tecumseh team plays Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard in the quarterfinals and they don’t generally miss many shots, so every board will be huge.
Highlights
Speaking of elite freshman rebounders, Asekomeh certainly fits that category. Again in similarity to Zajac and Tecumseh, her West Catholic team plays a Vicksburg squad that can shoot the ball at a very high level. Asekomeh has the ability to limit her opponents possessions with her work on the defensive glass, and that will be critical to her team’s success in the round of 8.
Highlights
Wendling is an exciting prospect herein Michigan with a lot of both talent and upside. She’s tall with length, but has excellent ball skills and shooting abilities as well. Even just a freshman, Wendling can be a matchup nightmare for her opposition. She’s shown the ability to go off on the offensive end, and if she does, that’s a great sign for New Lothrop.
Lauinger is a very skilled freshman that’s had an excellent season playing with a very skilled and talented Goodrich squad. She’s an efficient scorer, solid on the glass and an underrated passer. Lauinger has a really good all around game and her team will need it against an elite DEPSA squad.
