At the beginning of the season not many people thought Mullen would be a team that would’ve made it to the Great 8. They were able to improve as the year went on getting them into a rhythm and they shocked many along the way. Allison Schwertner Allison Schwertner 6’3″ | SF Mullen | 2024 State CO was a huge part of that run. Defensively, she uses her length and athleticism to change shots around the rim and on closeouts. All while holding down the paint on offense putting pressure on opposing bigs. In the game against Cherokee Trail, she was able to spread the floor and knock down jumpers when they went into a zone, giving her team a boost offensively.

Cherokee Trail is a team known for scoring in a variety of ways and that didn’t change in the Great 8. Players still were able to come in and play their game, even when they had to play from behind. The real savior on the day was Delainey Miller Delainey Miller 5’10” | CG Cherokee Trail | 2025 State CO . When shots from the outside weren’t falling, she found ways to get easier looks in the paint. Her willingness to take on the scoring load to help her team reach the Final Four shows you just how deep this team is. She finished the game with a team-high 19 points and 6 rebounds. Cherokee Trail will play Valor Christian next Thursday and Miller will try and duplicate the success she has had all season long.
Regis Jesuit has had an up-and-down season up to this period so watching them finally put it all together at the end of the year is no real surprise. Although numerous players have contributed to the team’s success, Jane Rumpf Jane Rumpf 6’2″ | PF Regis Jesuit | 2025 State CO is the player who stuck out in the team’s most recent win over Cherry Creek. Her 7 points and 4 rebounds may have you confused as to why she was such a standout with not huge numbers but she has become a swiss army knife for her team. Not only because of her height and length but because of what she has been able to do defensively and on the glass. Regis will need her best game as they get a rematch with Legend next week.
Being down a key player means you need more of a group effort from everybody else on the floor in order for a team to stay competitive. In this case, a major contributor for Cherry Creek was Addison Beck Addison Beck 5’7″ | PG Cherry Creek | 2026 State CO . After losing in heartbreak fashion last season, she came back and helped give her team an opportunity to advance to the next round. Addison had a team-high 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists, including going 2-2 from 3. A performance on a stage like this will only boost her confidence going into next season.
What Madeline Gibbs Madeline Gibbs 5’11” | SG Cherokee Trail | 2025 State CO brings to this Cherokee Trail team goes overlooked at times because of the success they’ve had so far. When you add a player like her, you’re getting a guard that can guard multiple positions on the floor at any time. Along with a high-IQ offensive player who makes the right reads on time and on target. Most importantly you can’t forget her ability to knock down the 3 ball when needed and that has been on display all season long.
