This week I will wrap up my continued coverage of prospects in the Class of 2024.
This is the eighth report celebrating groups of seniors from the Sunflower State. This report features five athletes from Western Kansas. To my knowledge, none of the five have committed to play at the college level.
Josey Kennedy Josey Kennedy 5'6" | PG Hoxie | 2024 State KS , 5’6”, PG, Hoxie
Kennedy is currently ranked No. 81 overall by Prep Girls Hoops. She is a quick guard who can carry an offense as a scorer or as the floor general. She was a double-digit scorer for her last three high school seasons.
Kambry Adams Kambry Adams 5'9" | PF Macksville | 2024 State KS , 5’9”, PF, Macksville
Adams is currently ranked No. 119 overall. She is an unselfish player who does what it takes to make her team succeed. She averaged 9.9 points per game for Macksville, and chipped in six rebounds, and 2-plus steals per contest. She also played volleyball for the Mustangs and recorded back-to-back seasons of 200-plus kills.
Mayce Russell Mayce Russell 5'6" | PG Macksville | 2024 State KS , 5’6”, PG, Macksville
Russell is another dual-sport prospect from Macksville. She was the Mustangs’ leading scorer averaging 16-plus points per game for the second consecutive season. Prep Girls Hoops has Russell ranked No. 121 overall. She finished with five steals per game and 58 percent from the free throw line. On the volleyball court, she played six rotations and finished her senior season with 184 kills, 258 digs, and 253 serve receptions.
Kamryn Rietzke Kamryn Rietzke 5'5" | PG Thunder Ridge | 2024 State KS , 5’5”, PG, Thunder Ridge
Rietzke is currently ranked No. 151 overall in the Class of 2028. Her senior season stat line popped out at me. She averaged at least 15 points per game for the third straight season. She picked up her play on the defensive end of the court with four steals per season which was her highest number in four seasons.
Abby Micek, 5’8”, G/F, Rawlins County
Micek is a standout two-sport prospect from Rawlins County. She finished her senior season scoring 11.7 points per game and averaging 8.4 rebounds per game. She has a big reach and jumps well. Those two attributes are obvious in her volleyball game as she collected 281 kills and 71 total blocks as a senior. Micek was a factor on defensive finishing with 52 steals and 33 blocks. She finished her high school career with 173 total steals.
