This stuff has consistently changed over the years, my daughter had over 100 D1 offers alone and has been in the W for a decade, winning championships in both college, Texas A&M, and back-to-back with the Las Vegas Aces but that doesn’t make me an EXPERT, the countless players I have identified as well as been the “messenger” to help achieve next-level dreams is part of that.
So much of what you read on social media is nonsense put out by self-promoters, yet I said over a decade ago that this would help screw things up yet here we are
With all of that being said, I’ll give you the first 5 as well as some others who could explode into the Top 10
Bailey amazed me in elementary school with her explosiveness as well as “poise” while playing against older players. I was intrigued that she got my #D1Lock on her and please understand, I haven’t been wrong yet. Fast forward to now, her blowing by defenders to score or dish is even better, so is her body control and court vision as her blistering passes in traffic set her teammates up for gimmes. Mid to long-range as well as her “on the ball” pressure are also nice
Mitchell could eventually be the top player in Texas because she’s around that magic number, which is 6’0 and is “long and athletic” yet her intangibles are what adds fuel to the fire. I had heard about her from a parent catching her on Livestream with her club team yet my initial sighting saw her going after rebounds RELENTLESSLY which I call AFTA, left me speechless. Her college ready frame and ability to score around the basket was a plus, so was her mid to long-range jumper as well as scoring off the dribble
Holmen found ways to be relevant on her loaded state champion high school team yet a few weeks ago at The Prime Event, my exact words were “she mesmerizes me” and here’s why. I have a saying “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against” and that falls into my “common sense” way of thinking and watching her go at it against other “next level players’ and showing she could score off the dribble as well as drop the jumper wit a hand in her face was nice yet her doing it “under pressure” was even better
Blair put on one of the most impressive performances by a freshman during the playoffs I have seen over my over a SCORE of paying attention to girl’s basketball, Ebonie Mangum dropping 28 in the final quarter to help take Dulles to state was the best yet Blair stamped her ticket that’s embedded in my memory. She was simply in a zone and her “will to win” JUST DID IT for me. The baseline pull-up jumper with a hand in her face, her acrobatic finishes, some after contact, her court vision as well as mid to long-range, all played a part yet her defensive pressure, baseline to baseline was smothering. A high school coach from a rival team gave me an assist early on this young lady, I didn’t blow the shot
Alfred doesn’t need to call Batman or Robin because she showed me years ago some “super hero” stuff in the making. She’s a long and athletic guard and her slight HEZ, as well as using a deceptive first step is among the best in her class. She has a “scorer’s mentality” coupled with a “you can’t stop me” mindset and the means not only around the basket, off the dribble as well as outside but setting teammates up to get easy looks all applies. She wants the ball in clutch situations and has shown, unlike my mail carrier, she can deliver on time
