Those nerves that sometimes come with playing one’s freshman season in the high school ranks have dissolved and one feels more comfortable with how the pace of the game differs from being in middle school.
For many an AAU assembling that is the case. One of those throughout Ohio is the DYT Vipers Elite 2027 team based out of Dayton. The “Gunter” is coach Derek Gunter who also coaches the organization’s 2025 squad.
The team will be part of this weekend’s WPA Bruins Spring Tip-Off in Pittsburgh. Without further adieu, here is a look at the 2027 bunch.
Janiyah Boykins – Boykins career has began by playing with the junior varsity team at Trotwood-Madison. She is the representative from the Rams that is on this year’s DYT Vipers Elite 2027 Gunter roster.
Jalynn Fields – Stebbins – a team that finished with a 15-8 record to conclude 2023-24 is well-represented on this year’s roster. The school has three representatives – including Fields who is one of the two guards from the team.
Brynlee Gunter – Gunter is another of the three representatives from Stebbins and also plays at the guard position alongside Fields. She is listed at 5-foot-6 according to the DYT Vipers Elite 2027 Gunter roster.
Ayanna Warr – Warr will be the only representative from Beavercreek on this year’s roster. The 2023-24 rendition of the Beavers put together another stellar season as they finished with a record of 17-7 and 12-2 in the Greater Western Ohio conference.
Ma’Kya Gantt – Warriors fans will be pleased to see Wayne well-represented on this year’s DYT Vipers Elite 2027 Gunter team. Gantt stands in at 5-foot-5 per the travel team’s roster. Her game is still developing and has excelled on the defensive end of the floor.
Mychael Thomas – Thomas is the second representative from Wayne that will run with DYT Vipers Elite 2027 Gunter this spring and summer. She too is a guard who is listed on the roster at a height of 5-foot-7.
Emma Dady – We have focused mostly on the backcourt of the AAU team – until now. Dady is one of the standouts in the frontcourt and is the sole representative from an Aviators team that finished 18-6 and qualified for the state playoffs.
Lily Grzegorzewski – The third representative from Stebbins. Grzegorzewski is a 5-foot-10 up-and-comer who saw playing time in seven games this past season for her team. She primarily plays at the three.
Maddy Miller – Coaches love players like Miller that can give a team productive minutes either in the frontcourt as a forward or in the backcourt as a guard. Miller is the sole representative from Fairlawn on this year’s travel team roster.
Addison Jenkins – Jenkins saw playing time in 17 games this past season for the Cougars. The Kenton Ridge freshman, who is listed at 5-foot-6 on the DYT Vipers Elite 2027 Gunter roster, is the sole representative on the team from the Cougars.
Mi’Kiah Gillis – Gillis is the tallest member of this year’s DYT Vipers Elite 2027 Gunter roster. She stands in at a towering 6-foot-2. She is the only member of this year’s AAU team from Stivers School for the Arts.
