There was a high school division at the AAU Saturday Shootout in Bloomington that included teams from the classes of 2027 through 2025 with a variety of ability levels and plenty of fresh faces to take in. After a couple of hours of viewing, here are a half dozen players from three clubs who got themselves noticed over the weekend.

MINNESOTA ACES

[player_tooltip player_id='889440' first='Maddie' last='Becker'] – 2025 forward, Zimmerman

Standing about 6 feet tall, Becker has many of the pieces that make a good forward. Pictured above, Maddie has long arms and legs, giving her an advantage around the rim when it comes to defense and rebounding. She utilizes her length well on the defensive end and is a natural shot blocker. On the offensive side of things, Maddie is a mobile post with decent footwork. She absorbs contact from the defenders and either finishes or grabs her own rebound on missed shots. Becker is not just a back-to-the-basket post, but is also comfortable handling the ball on the perimeter. She led her team with 14 points in one of Saturday's contests, making 5 field goals in the paint as well as 4 free throws. Becker led Zimmerman in scoring this year at nearly 15 points per game.

Gabby Worloma – 2025 guard, Elk River

In a world where many players are driven by offense and scoring, it will often grab our attention when we see a young player who is dedicated to defense. The 5'6 junior is about as committed as they come. On every single possession we witnessed, Gabby played in a low stance with quick feet, high pressure and active hands both on and off the ball. In an era when point production seems to dominate the conversation – thanks Caitlin Clark! – Worloma's consistency and composure on the other side of the ball were something to marvel at. On the other end of the floor, Gabby handles the ball well and is a solid passer. She may be a bit on the smaller side but Gabby's muscular build and strength allow her to hold her own with taller players on the floor. Worloma only made cameo appearances on the Elks' varsity this year. Perhaps in her senior season she'll get the opportunity to show the kind of abilities we saw on Saturday.

MINNESOTA VENOM

The AAU squad from Western Minnesota was a little shorthanded on Saturday and especially missed their standout leader [player_tooltip player_id='889762' first='Savannah' last='Sullivan'] of Rothsay, who reached 1,000 points as a sophomore and has a ton of upside. That didn't prevent a trio of players from gaining notice at the Shootout. Take 2026 guard McKenna Walker of Hawley, for example. She's the kind of player you notice immediately because of her athletic build and solid frame. At 5'9, she's got some length to go with the strength. We loved her hustle plays and her consistent work ethic. Walker's shooting motion is really nice, too.

[player_tooltip player_id='889266' first='Anika' last='Cossette'] is a stocky guard from Barnesville, located an hour southeast of Moorhead on Interstate 94. Cossette also has a solid build and plays with a ton of effort. We lost track of how many turnovers she forced over the course of two games. Her quick hands and feet enabled Anika to get a finger on the ball with high frequency which quickly turned into scoring opportunities at the other end of the floor.

Addi Sanvik is a 5'8 guard from Hawley who provided a burst of offense for her team, showcasing an array of nice moves on the downhill, including a pretty floater in the lane. Addi can kick things into high gear with an explosive burst of speed when driving to the basket.

MINNESOTA FURY 2027 S4O

We always have high expectations for any team from the Fury. It's a reputation the club has earned with more than a decade of churning out elite college prospects. The 2027 S40 squad delivered in that regard on Saturday. Playing up in the high school division, this Fury roster includes three ranked prospects who we know well: #31 [player_tooltip player_id='630243' first='Arshia' last='Ramlall'] of Rosemount, #59 [player_tooltip player_id='639702' first='Ellie' last='Drange'] of Hill-Murray and #65 [player_tooltip player_id='867054' first='Brynn' last='Verbout'] of Maple Grove. Two more prospects who are knocking on the door of the rankings also got noticed.

[player_tooltip player_id='889671' first='Nesa' last='Namjoshi'] – 2027 guard, Eden Prairie

The 5'5 guard gave a very solid performance in each of Saturday's competitions. She was highly effective due to her ability to do all of the little things right. In her first season with the Fury, Nesa is highly attuned to what is happening on the floor, particularly on the defensive end. She has quick feet and active hands, and is an incredibly responsible defender. On the offensive end, Namjoshi is a strong passer with a keen sense of timing and she knows where to put the ball to set her teammates up for success. Nesa has a smooth release to her shot and is not afraid to attack the basket, where she excels at drawing contact and earning trips to the free throw line. Eden Prairie is an incredibly strong team and Nessa might still be a year away from significant varsity time. When the opportunity comes we're feeling pretty good about her readiness for the task at hand.

[player_tooltip player_id='630284' first='Maia' last='Richardson'] – 2027 guard, Northfield

It was exactly one year ago when we did our first evaluation of Maia at the Suns Spring Showcase and she has been on the verge of entering the Prep Girls Hoops rankings ever since. Watching her on Saturday we were reminded why. The 5'10 forward, who was a rotation player at Northfield this winter, is a solid all-around contributor who does so many things well on both sides of the ball. Perhaps more importantly, Maia makes very few mistakes. Maia isn't going to bring the fans out of their seats or make someone's clickbait highlight reel. She's just going to execute one smart play after another. With a high basketball IQ, a nice feel for the game, and a calm demeanor on the court, Richardson has the makings of an excellent college competitor. This could be a breakthrough summer for Maia.
