A staple of Final 4 events in the postgame “One Shining Moment” tribute and highlights after the championship has been decided. The song and video shows moments that will be remembered forever. There are some players that will have “One Shining Moment” in grassroots play this year. These players will make a huge play, hit a big shot, or dominate a game or event. I’m going to give you 5 players that I think will have “One Shining Moment” this grassroots season.
I’m positive that Davis will have at least 1 “One Shining Moment” this season. She had a bunch of them last grassroots season. Davis has shown that she’s an elite multi level scorer that can get buckets from all over the floor. She has that takeover ability where she can make plays in bunches and start to dominate the opposition. If a coach at the next level is in the gym with the Michigan Goonies , they NEED to see her play.
Gustafson is coming off a terrific high school season and I’m willing to bet she carries that momentum into grassroots season. She did a nice job of defining her game over the past year and being able to utilize her strengths to her advantage. Gustafson has a unique blend of power and touch that can be very hard to find. I think we’ll see her make a special play and have a special game on her way to “One Shining Moment.”

Calista Blue Calista Blue 5’10” | SF Haslett | 2026 State MI had me hooked on her game at the Prep Girls Hoops Top 250. She’s strong and physical and I think actually plays better through contact. What highlights her game to me is her willingness and ability to make plays off the ball. Blue is capable of playing bigger than her height and battling on the glass. She’ll make a hustle play this spring or summer that will be worthy of “One Shining Moment”.
I just mentioned Groen in an article last week, which got me to watching some film. She’s going to best must see with Factory Basketball this season because she has some real skills with the ball. I’ll be honest, I always thought she was talented, but I think I missed a lot of that upside. I think Groen is going to make some “wow” type plays when she has the ball.

Porter snuck under the radar a bit in high school season, but don’t worry because that won’t last. She’s too talented. Porter has shown a lot of spark in her game and the ability to go off on the offensive end. Porter has a high basketball IQ and has a distinct feel for the game that helps her pick up on what her team needs from her and when. She’s going to have games this spring and summer that are jaw dropping.
