The 20% growth in the number of included prospects caused most players to slide at least a couple positions. This article looks at not only debuters from the 3A classification and lower but also at prospects who advanced despite the increase. Players are listed in rank order.
Alana Green Alana Green 5'8" | SG Wellsville | 2027 State KS , 5’8″, SG, Wellsville – Green earned Pioneer League second team and 3A honorable mention honors from KSHSAA and Sports In Kansas. Advancing a single spot to #39 she is a athletic guard who shoots it with range and finishes with creativity. Defensively her IQ stands out in her ability to give ground against drivers to set herself up to challenge if not block the shot.
Kailynn Jacobson Kailynn Jacobson 5'8" | SG Mission Valley | 2027 State KS , 5’8″, PG, Mission Valley – Jacobson earned Flint Hills League first team and 2A honorable mention honors from KSHSAA and Sports In Kansas. Quick and athletic she transitions well with the ball and finishes creatively with speed. She led the Vikings in scoring with 9.2 points. Jacobson also added 3.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.8 steals. She also shot 32% from beyond the arc on 109 attempts. She advanced one spot to #40.
Josie Havercamp Josie Havercamp 6'0" | PF Centralia | 2027 State KS , 6’0″, PF, Centralia – Havercamp played a big roll in the rotation, helping the Panthers wrap up a terrific 2024 season with a third place finish at the 1A Division I state tournament. A strong post presence with size, strength and length Havercamp’s ball handling and overall skill set noticeably grew as the season wore on. Averaging more than 6 points and nearly 4 rebounds per game she moved up two spots to #43.
Mac Medlock, 5’10”, CG, Burlington – Medlock is the top small school debuter, entering at #45. A versatile player who plays inside and on the wing she can stay with the ball on the drive to block shots without fouling. She is also a good perimeter shooting threat who gathers herself well. Medlock earned Pioneer League second team honors and was a 3A honorable mention selection by KSHSAA and Sports In Kansas.
Capri Koechner Capri Koechner SF Maur Hill-Mount Academy | 2027 State KS , SF, Maur Hill-Mount Academy – Koechner debutes at #50. A first team Northeast Kansas League selection she also received KBCA 2A honorable mention honors. Koechner has a quick release off the catch and is a credible threat from beyond the arc. She can get to the hoop with athleticism and uses her long strides to cover ground quickly. Koechner uses her slightish frame well to box and clear rebounds.
Jordy Schroeder Jordy Schroeder 5'7" | SG Halstead | 2027 State KS , 5’7″, SG, Halstead – Schroeder was a big part of the Dragons’ full court pressure and effectively defended well on the wing. She has good half court vision, can get into the lane with quickness, and will abuse defenders who fail to box out on the perimeter. Schroeder enters at #54.
Sayler Stapleton Sayler Stapleton 5'4" | SG Meade | 2027 State KS , 5’4″, SG, Meade – Stapleton had a big year. Scoring at a 12.9 point clip she shot 31% from three with 57 made and 62% from the line. She set the school record for made threes in a game with 7. She was selected as SPIAA and 2A Sports In Kansas honorable mention. She joins the ranks at #59.
