5A was very tough last year as a few teams played at a high level and a lot of those teams bring all of those players back. Let's take a look at some of the 5A favorites.

Bountiful High School

Last season we had a chance to watch this team and they played a really fun style of basketball and they were able to capture the 5A state Championship. they will be back and many thing that they will be better than last season. They will be lead by two players that are just superior in their positions and in the class and that Is [player_tooltip player_id='788162' first='Taylor' last='Harvey'] and Malika Satuala. Satuala is playing very well this spring with her club team and the fact that she can just get to her spots in the mid-post and turn and score is just impressive. She can defend the post and she has such a good steady pace to her game in the perimeter. Then you go with Harvey a player that is a point forward as she has different gears and she can just shoot over most defenders or blow by them. She is a force on defense and in the paint it is hard to score on her. [player_tooltip player_id='856279' first='Adelaide' last='Stevenson'] is a player that will be huge next year and so will [player_tooltip player_id='864680' first='Mae' last='Johnson'], both of these girls have size and scoring ability from all over. With all that spcing this team has you need to keep an eye on rising freshman [player_tooltip player_id='827404' first='Maleah' last='Nelson'], this girl can shoot the ball and she can handle pressure as well.

Brighton High School

Brighton is another team that is right on the cusp of taking that next step as they return a lot of players. They have a really deep guard lineup lead by [player_tooltip player_id='789082' first='Olivia' last='Stephens'] who is showing well on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. She has speed and play making ability. She was recently offered by Utah State University to add to a few other offers she currently has. Sophie Nielson is a strong lead guard that can take the ball off the dribble and score but also score from the perimeter. [player_tooltip player_id='788335' first='Lucy' last='Chin'] is a sharp shooter that has been well known to get streaky from deep. [player_tooltip player_id='789134' first='Taylor' last='Workman'] is a strong guard that can provide a little bit of shooting and slashing to the team. [player_tooltip player_id='788269' first='Charlotte' last='O'Neal'] has some size in the paint but she has a little bit of touch in the mid-range. If this team can start clicking early this year they will be a tough out.

West High School

West has a few players that can help the team make a run. Kaylee Falatea might be a 20 PPG type of a player next season. She does play the right way but she is always in scoring positions. She could be a big time stock riser this spring. [player_tooltip player_id='796811' first='Tia' last='Pan'] is another young talent that could be making some moves this spring to elevate her game. She has size, strength and skill to impact the game for sure. [player_tooltip player_id='788305' first='Fina' last='Tuha'] was solid last season and entering her senior year she could really take ownership of play in the paint. West does have a youngster that is raw but sky is the limit for [player_tooltip player_id='796805' first='Laite' last='Latu'], she is a 6'5 post player that is still learning how to play and impact the game but she she walls up on the defensive end she is tough. She will get more mobile as time goes on but she could be a stock riser for sure. Overall West plays hard and if they can get some stops here and there they will be a tough team to stop.

Wasatch High School

Wasatch does lose a really good post player but they have some more size that they can rely on. Mahala Speredon has a ways to go but she could develop into a formidable post player and defender in time. [player_tooltip player_id='613008' first='Peyton' last='Behnke'] was solid lasy year and as she gets faster off the bounce her shooting will get better as a multidimensional player. [player_tooltip player_id='789068' first='Fili' last='Liava'a'] is a solid 3/4 that can take it off the bounce and score as well. Kate Miller is another young guard that should be able to develop well over the next few years but they will need her to pick things up. Dani Garner is another post player that could emerge as well. Wasatch could be tough once again.

Timpview High School

Timpview is building something over there in Utah County as they will be lead by senior [player_tooltip player_id='788242' first='Lina' last='Ballin'] who put up some good numbers and was able to work inside and out. [player_tooltip player_id='827396' first='Leah' last='Atuaia'] was a surprise last season as a freshman and she should be able to pick things up this next season. They also have some young talented players coming in that will be able to play right away. [player_tooltip player_id='866700' first='Livia' last='Eyre'] is another player that you need to keep an eye on among others on this team that could have big explosive years.

Others: Cyprus, Olympus, West Jordan
