2028’s Who Got Next! Cagers Invitational

The 2024 Michigan Cagers Invitational hosted a variety of 2030-2025 travel teams this weekend on May 4th and 5th. College coaches, media, and prospects invaded the Cage Fieldhouse at Swartz Creek to see a number of independent teams face off over the weekend. Michigan Storm was the headliner program, Northern Pride made the long trek from Northern Michigan, and the remaining teams joined in from all across lower Michigan. What made the Cagers Invitational tournament unique and exciting was the number of independent travel clubs competing at the tournament. The college coaches in attendance had the benefit of seeing many JUCO-NAIA prospects who are flying under-the-radar. Here are a few 2028 prospects who will certainly be on my radar now heading into the 2024 winter high school season!

Brooklyn Robinson was a towering power forward who dominated on the court for FVV Hype 2028 at the Cagers Invitational. Her size, strength, height, and athleticism are all attributes that will make her an exciting high school prospect. Brooklyn finished a transition layup full speed and showed the ability to dribble the ball up the floor using both hands. She was relentless as a rebounder on the offensive end, finishing put backs inside. Brooklyn used a power dribble and squared her shoulders to finish off the glass and used an effective face up pivot move to attack her defender. She protected the rim by blocking shots in the paint, knocked down her free throws, and was an impressive post prospect at the tournament.

Naomi Cowles Naomi Cowles 5’6″ | CG MI set the tone for FVV Hype at the Cagers Invitational with her toughness and outstanding motor. She scored full speed in the paint and elevated with power to finish inside after working for an offensive rebound. Naomi was scrappy and tough, hitting the floor, stealing the ball away, and working hard on both ends.

Jaliyah Smith Jaliyah Smith 5'5" | PG Voyageur Academy | 2028 MI
Jaliyah Smith Jaliyah Smith 5’5″ | PG Voyageur Academy | 2028 MI was a 2028 guard who wowed at the Cagers Invitational for the Pink Panthers. She drilled a wing 3, buried another 3 from up top, and drove through the lane to finish the and one layup through contact. Jaliyah stole the ball and converted a layup using her left at the rim. She scores at all three levels and plays with quickness on both ends.

Alexis Blondeel Alexis Blondeel 5’9″ | CG Brighton | 2028 MI was a lengthy wing prospect who flashed major potential for Legacy at the Cagers Invitational. She used her length and strength to make plays on both sides of the floor. Alexis stole the ball and finished inside. She outworked her opponent for an offensive rebound, sealed off her defender to finish off two, and used a strong rip to attack downhill. Alexis looks like an athlete who could make an immediate impact at the high school level.

Maya Juozapaitis Maya Juozapaitis 5'6" | CG Tecumseh | 2028 MI
Maya Juozapaitis Maya Juozapaitis 5’6″ | CG Tecumseh | 2028 MI is a 2028 guard for Michigan Cobras 2027 who impressed with her burst to the basket and toughness defensively at the Cagers Invitational. She accelerated by her defender using her left hand before switching back to her right and finishing full speed off the glass. Maya moved well without the ball and did well defending on the ball.
