It was a weekend filled with great basketball and great exposure for the young ladies in attendance. College coaches were everywhere at the Atlantic City Convention Center and, though there were dynamic duos all over the place, these were some local dynamic duos in the 17U division.

As these two go, so goes the Empire squad. As you all know if you can go into a competitive AAU environment with a PG and a presence in the middle you are off to a good start and the [program_tooltip program_id='714688' first='Empire' last='State Blue Flames'] Power 24 team has that. Cam is a do it all PG who has a very tight handle, is hard to press and hard to keep out of the lane. Whether guarding the ball on defense or handling the ball on offense, she controls the tempo all game long at both ends of the floor. Offensively, with her speed and strength she does an excellent job breaking down defenders and getting into the paint and finishing at the rim through and around contact. The Syracuse commit has a strong pull up game and she'll make you pay if you play off of her. Julia is a versatile interior player. She is tough to guard when she gets to her spot and with her strength she gets to her spot frequently. When she catches the ball with defenders on her back she goes strong to the rim and is a good finisher. If she misses inside, she attacks the rebound put backs and she also is a regular at the FT line where she shows a soft touch. Her shooting from 15 feet out continues to develop and she is comfortable shooting from 3. Defensively her strength and length are deterrents for all opponents looking to work inside.

Addy was her usual self in Atlantic City. She is an excellent finisher in transition and uses her body well when knifing to the basket in the half court and can easily score through contact. She has great length allowing her to finish over larger defenders inside. She also showed a strong mid-range pull up game and is comfortable handling the ball against pressure and in the half court while initiating offense. Addy's defensive strengths revolve around her length. She uses that length to compete inside for rebounds. Along with her length she uses great anticipation to get deflections and get her hands in passing lanes. She has a knack for setting up opponents to thinking they have a clear look at the hoop yet ultimately getting blocked shots inside. Charlotte's offense exploded this past season leading her Madison HS team to the Group 2 Finals. She scored 700+ points in her junior year and has taken that confidence to the AAU season. She is a 3-level scorer. She has a smooth stroke at the 3-point line, can attack the basket when run off the 3-point line and can play inside with her back to the basket. She has a very strong frame and is not afraid to score through contact. Her strength allows her to out muscle people inside for rebounds and defend bigs in the paint. She also has the athleticism to fill lanes and score in transition.

This is a true dynamic duo in the back court. Gianna was getting buckets this weekend. She can stroke it from deep range as evidenced by her 91 3s against 87 2s in her junior season at St. Thomas Aquinas. She can spot up and catch and shoot or she create separation with the ball in her hands and pull from deep. She is methodical with the ball and can also get in the lane and show off a floater game. She is an opportunistic defender and gets her hands on balls on the perimeter. Jess Devine is the type of PG I love to watch. Absolute non-stop motor every minute she is on the court. Though she is a bit undersized that does not stop her from getting anywhere on the court anytime she wants. Her tight handle and speed are absolute game changers. It is no surprise she is a sprinter on the Middlesex HS track team. She is impossible to keep out of the lane and when she gets in there, she is a very creative finisher. She forces defenses to play on their heels with her speed and ability to push tempo. She can step out and shoot it as well. She had 61 3-pointers in her junior year and should easily pass the 2,000-career point mark as a senior. Defensively, her speed and anticipation allow her to go for and gets steals in passing lanes and on the ball her footwork and speed allow her to easily stay in front of the ball and guard baseline to baseline.
