Continue ReadingLexington HS in the South Carolina Midlands was one of the focal points of the Palmetto State basketball fan this past season. As the 2024 AAU campaign has segued out of April and into May, hoops fans were fixated on the home of the 5A Wildcats for a different reason.
This year’s Battle for the Ring mostly emanated from Lexington HS utilizing the two gyms present on the large campus. The event was hosted by A1 Hoops Report and welcomed teams mostly from the Palmetto State along with a couple of teams from nearby Georgia.
We at Prep Girls Hoops made the trip out to Lexington HS to catch Sunday’s games. We unveiled our first list of top freshmen performers. Without further ado, here is the second half of that list.
Keira Bobseine
Keira Bobseine
Sunday’s contest between Palmetto 76ers/A’ja Wilson Elite 15U and Lexington Hoopsters featured plenty of talent that sports blue and gold of the 5A Wildcats during the winter months. Bobseine was one of those standouts. The eight points she scored were key in keeping her Lexington Hoopsters team in the contest with Palmetto 76ers/A’ja Wilson Elite 15U from start to finish even though Bobseine’s team was on the receiving end of a 44-35 defeat. Her socring ability from the field is complimented by her ability to draw contact and get to the free throw line. Bobseine also competes in track and field events.
Saniya Weeks
Saniya Weeks
Fittingly, the weekend’s get-together at Lexington HS was a chance for Wildcats like Weeks to become reacquainted with their winter home court. Weeks did so in superb fashion by leading her One Team One Dream squad to a hard-fought 48-47 victory over Lady Carolina Hoopz. Weeks finished with 20 points in Sunday’s victory to close out her team’s leg of the invite. It did not seem to matter where she had the ball – if she had the ball in her hand, she was likely to place the ball through the hoop. Attacking the rim? Bucket. Midrange? Bucket. Long range? Bucket. Weeks was part of a 2023-24 Lexington junior varsity rendition that last season finished with an undefeated 20-0 mark. She continues to impress like she did on Sunday on her home court and that callup to coach Molly Goodrich’s varsity squad could be right around the corner.
Lamaria Brown

Programs that remain at or near the top of their respective heaps do so because of their ability to replenish talent. Military Magnet is one of those programs. Brown recently completed her freshman season with coach Nathaniel Taylor’s 1A Eagles and has taken her talents to the AAU realm with Lady Carolina Hoopz. Her travel team was involved in one of the more entertaining matchups of the day – a contest with One Team One Dream that went the way of said team by a margin of 48-47. Among where she really impressed was with her willingness to attack the rim. Brown also would draw contact late and have chances at the free throw line.
Chyna Myers
Chyna Myers
Myers is looking to translate what was a step forward for 2A Edisto into a superb season on the travel realm. The Tigers improved on its one-win 2022-23 with a seven-win 2023-24 and a berth in the 2A state tournament. With a 10-point performance that helped One Team One Dream earn a hard-fought 48-47 victory over Lady Carolina Hoopz, Myers certainly is doing just that. She displayed an ability to score from all three levels – including at the free throw line which means she does not shy away from contact. Myers is also effective as a playmaker in transition and understands not only how to make accurate passes but when to attack and when to distribute.
