Paradise was running the show for Team Sharp 17u on Saturday. She is quick and shifty with the basketball in her hands. She easily gets in the lane and has no problem finishing over or around people. She made excellent decisions with the ball in her hands on the offensive end and was very comfortable pushing tempo and passed the ball very well in transition. She plays with a ton of energy at both ends and defensively she was pressuring opposing guards all over the court.
Adhara is a tough, physical, scrappy player. She drives hard and uses her body to create and finish through contact. She showed patience with the ball in her hands, shot it well in the mid-range and is comfortable beyond the 3-point line as well. She did a great job on the defensive end being very vocal and communicating with her United 15U Select 40 teammates. She has active hands defending on the ball and is not afraid to play pressure defense anywhere on the court.
Highlights
Leah did a great job utilizing her length at both ends of the floor for United 15U Select 40. Offensively, she showed solid footwork in her post game and finished inside with shots that are tough to block with her high release. She is very active on the glass at both ends and gets to the line on offense because she is so active inside. She showed a smooth stroke from the FT line. Defensively, she used her length to disrupt shots inside and outside and when she got defensive boards, Leah was quick to outlet the ball and fill lanes in transition.
Sadie was consistent and proved to be a strong finisher in transition. She was able to take good angles and finish through defenders. She also was comfortable stepping out to the 3-point line and knocking down shots when her United 15U Select 40 team needed her. She shows a lot of patience with the ball in her hands. She didn’t force things and allowed the game to come to her. Defensively, I thought she did a very good job of keeping the ball in front of her and helping force the opposing teams into long possessions.
Highlights
London did a great job not settling for jumpers and, instead, getting into the lane and creating contact with opposing defenders. In the Empire State Blue Flames 16U Power 24 game against United NJ 16u Power 24, London got to the line 14 times and her ability to control the ball without turning it over kept the game close before the Empire pressure changed the game. On a team of impressive guards, London did a great job knowing when to attack and when to facilitate. After getting in the lane several times, she had the defense on their heels and took advantage by showcasing her pull up jumper.
Jordan had her best showing on this AAU season at the NJ Spring Showcase. She converted at a high rate inside, and she was the only player that scored in double digits in both games for United 16U Power 24. Standing 5’10”, she was able to score inside with her quick feet and powerful downhill drives. She found space in the halfcourt offense and also got several baskets in transition where she is tough to stop when she gets a head of steam towards the rim. She also did a good job pursuing the ball off the glass at both ends of the floor.
