A1 Hoops Team Camp: 2025/26 Top Performers

Riverview Park in North Augusta hosts plenty of basketball events throughout the year – particularly during the offseason for travel events as well as high school camp month in June.    The latest event that happened to be on the calendar of the CSRA venue was this year's A1 Hoops Team Camp. It was a smaller event than most, but it still managed to welcome six teams within its confines for the weekend. Five of those teams hail from the Palmetto State while one is located on the other side of the Savannah River in Georgia.    We at Prep Girls Hoops were also on hand to take in the festivities. We highlighted a few 2025s in an earlier article. Here, we keep the focus on our rising seniors as well as mention a few rising juniors who also showed up to ball out along the river.    Augusta Christian's Friday at Riverview Park got off to a rocky start with a loss to Northwood Academy. The Lions then responded with an emphatic victory over the Hornets of 1A C.A. Johnson. Ellis finished that game with an 11-point effort. Included in those 11 points was plenty of accuracy from behind the 3-point line. Ellis drained three of her tries from behind the arc. Along with being a signature deep threat, she also greatly helps Augusta Christian's rebounding capabilities. Ellis is a multi-sport athlete who competes in track and field events alongside her basketball accomplishments.     Reyes was another one of the standouts from SCISA 4A Northwood Academy that turned in an impressive performance on the first day of the A1 Hoops Team Camp. On a team that has plenty of 3-point shooting potential, Reyes did plenty of that throughout the weekend's camp at North Augusta's Riverview Park. Combine that with a willingness to collect a large number of steals and it especially makes Reyes difficult to game plan against. She also is effective in the transition game. Staying active even without the ball in her hand and an overall high basketball IQ are two other strong points of her game.     C.A. Johnson was a vastly improved team in 2023-24 with an eight-win season. What the Hornets threw at 2A Strom Thurmond displayed exactly why that was the case. C.A. Johnson may not have came away with a win over the Rebels, but the nine points that were placed on the board by Dwyer ensured that game would be competitive from start to finish. Dwyer has no problems drawing contact to get to the free throw line and will effectively disrupt the trajectory of an opponent's shot as a defender. In addition to displaying accuracy from long range, Dwyer knows how to make the right plays at the right moments.     Lewis is transitioning into her third season at Silver Bluff and has had the opportunity to be part of a Bulldogs team that has been among the winningest in the state in recent years. Even though the Bulldogs were on the receiving end of a defeat to 4A Midland Valley, Lewis put together a superb individual performance as she scored seven points to aid Silver Bluff's efforts. Lewis has an ability to not only put points on the board but also prevent an opposing team from doing the same. Her heads-up mentality she plays with enables her to collect plenty of steals and create additional offensive possessions for her team.     She is listed at No. 30 on the Lions' roster but wore No. 21 for this year's A1 Hoops Team Camp. Regardless of what number she does wear, she is a threat to put plenty of points on the board. Schwarz did that by getting 13 in a victory for Augusta Christian over C.A. Johnson. Early in that game, Schwarz made her presence felt by getting seven of those points in the first few minutes. One can expect someone with her height to also grab plenty of rebounds and win plenty of battles on the glass. Defensively, she gets a fair amount of steals and has the ability to make plays in transition.
