I35 Showcase: Sunday 15U Focus

A Sunday afternoon spent in Wichita checking in on the rising 2027 prospects for a few different programs. After a slow start for her squad, it's was Hazzard's battling in the paint that ignited a comeback and turn the game competitive. There was a stretch to close the second quarter where every time you looked up, Hazzard was either scoring or drawing a foul in the paint. She did this by working to establish position around the basket and being active on the glass. Add in a bit of "herky jerky" but effective back to the basket post game, the Edmond North 2027 was [program_tooltip program_id='712936' first='Team' last='Oklahoma']'s most consistent offensive threat. There's also strong upside to Hazzard's game on the defensive side. She has a strong grasp of fundamentals of positioning and ball denial that comes from being part of a successful high school program like Edmond North. While a helpside snatch block speaks to the higher potential for her to turn into even more of a rim protector. The youngster was a miss by the staff in the recent rankings update, and will be a key addition when they're refreshed this fall. The table setting for a talented 15U team, she makes it easier on all her teammates. As fitting for the program's ethos, Whinery fully understands the value of accurate long rang passing in transition. Along with the transition opportunities she creates, she also is a creator in the halcourt. Her impact might not always be the loudest scoring wise, but her impact to free up other JYD to go score is felt throughout the game. Taller lead guard, who has some craftiness to her game and ability to play at her own pace. Strong build for a guard, uses it along with good anticipatory skills to be a plus rebounder and loose ball magnet. Did her damage as a scorer in the mid-range and slipping through the cracks of the zone to score at the rim. Has a soccer background, so rawer than others in age group, but is a name to monitor as she moves from Yukon to Bethany. Small town guard that plays under control, often utilizing two foot stops to be an effective attacker in the mid-range and near the basket. Hit a couple times in the 8-10 feet range due to playing off two feet. One above the break made three was impressive as she didn't let a good close out phase her. Has some small town defensive grit to go along with solid scoring foundation. An utility player for her squad, Murilo has good instincts on both ends of the court. Often was operating offensively in the middle of the zone, did a good job of attacking gaps and finishing well on offense. Unafraid to mix it up on defense. Name to watch going into next winter as she looks to carve out a role at Mustang.
