Expert Analysis

Junior who is becoming quite the anchor for Edmond North. Took a pair of charges, while challenging many more shots at the rim. Capable of stepping out and harassing ball handlers on the perimeter as well. Along with the versatile defensive principles, she hit double figures with 10 points. A lot of her production came around the rim, but did step out and hit a mid-range jumper as well.

Hazzard’s game keeps evolving. She’s been a classic post player, who can be a defensive anchor with boards and rim protector. While also scoring on the block by playing tougher then her frame would suggest. Combined with good touch around the basket. Now she’s looking more mobile and agile. Showing glimpses of improved perimeter skills. She can rip and go from the top of the key, making her more of a face up forward. Cleary a player who is putting in the time in the gym, as she impresses in each viewing.

Post player that showed consistent play all day in 3 on 3 as well as 5 on 5. Solid post moves with up/under on the block getting the defense in the air. Impressive was the bumps she used to get the defender back on the heels so she could score with that over the shoulder move.
On defense Kinzie has a long wingspan and is a rim protector. Great timing on the jump and arms away from the body avoiding the foul. Lateral movement forced the defense to go around setting up the block. Kinzie and teammate Hall give the Lady Huskies great size that can defend and on play on the outside

Hazzard was a force in the post, as a rim deterrent and strong rebounder. Hits the glass hard on both ends of the floor. Then as a shot blocker, she is becoming more disciplined and agile. Did a good job of not biting on pump fakes, staying with driving guards, then swatting shot attempts. Offensive she had spurts of scoring. Even knocked down a corner three, which could be very promising for her longterm development.

After impressing this summer during grassroots ball, it was good to see Hazzard draw the start in Edmond North’s match up with El Reno. Adds an extra dimension to their talented team, especially on the defensive end. The long armed center prospect battled with El Reno’s older forward’s prospect, with great ball denial and playing strong for a youngster. A strong sign that Hazzard could have a breakout sophomore campaign for one of the best programs in Oklahoma

After a slow start for her squad, it’s was Hazzard’s battling in the paint that ignited a comeback and turn the game competitive.
There was a stretch to close the second quarter where every time you looked up, Hazzard was either scoring or drawing a foul in the paint. She did this by working to establish position around the basket and being active on the glass. Add in a bit of “herky jerky” but effective back to the basket post game, the Edmond North 2027 was Team Oklahoma ‘s most consistent offensive threat.
There’s also strong upside to Hazzard’s game on the defensive side. She has a strong grasp of fundamentals of positioning and ball denial that comes from being part of a successful high school program like Edmond North. While a helpside snatch block speaks to the higher potential for her to turn into even more of a rim protector.
The youngster was a miss by the staff in the recent rankings update, and will be a key addition when they’re refreshed this fall.
