I attended the Legacy Region Finals this weekend, hosted by the Community First Champion Center in Appleton, Wisconsin. Sunday was a shortened day, but below is a quick look at a few ladies in the 17U & 16U divisions who stood out when I was able to see them during the daily action. Keep an eye out for all-tournament teams in 17U & 16U to appear soon.

.

Amonya was unavailable Saturday, but she showed up Sunday and gave her team some strong minutes. She is a physical wing who can either play as a bigger guard or a small forward, even as a point forward at times pushing the ball in transition or initiating the offense. She played with an outstanding motor, she sought contact, and she was willing to get inside to rebound and/or defend. She seemed to keep a lot of possessions alive for her team, plus I liked her aggressiveness attacking the basket.

Kylie was very good Sunday morning, as she was scoring the basketball consistently in all different ways. She knocked down open jumpers from the perimeter, she flashed to the mid-post and scored, and she was able to attack the basket and score inside or draw free throw opportunities. She is a really nice athlete with a strong handle, she showed the ability to change directions in traffic and absorb contact, plus she brought great energy. Kylie also made a few plays at the defensive end, using her length to get her hands on some deflections/steals.

There were a few players for [program_tooltip program_id='715376' first='D.F.' last='Elite'] who played well Saturday, one of them being Kamryn, but I felt like she had a huge game in Sunday's 16U Final Four. Her energy is contagious, as she flies around the floor making a number of hustle plays. She is very long and somewhat bouncy, and she likes to attack the basket and finish in a variety of ways or hit the pull-up jumper. She also showed touch from the perimeter. Defensively, she'll mix it up with the forwards inside, and she is an aggressive rebounder.

If you watch Kaia for even just a few minutes, it's very easy to appreciate what she brings to her 17U team. She is a long, bouncy, but wiry-strong forward who uses a great deal of energy and toughness to be productive each time out. She is a nonstop rebounder and defender who comes up with a lot of rebounds, plus she is an opportunistic scorer inside, as she collects a number of put-backs or scores dump-off passes from her guards. She is a walking double-double machine who really helps solidify their lineup of perimeter players.

Rita was at it again Sunday morning, and she was very good in the first half of their game playing "up" against the [program_tooltip program_id='712778' first='Purple' last='Aces'] National 16U unit. Her game is so veteran-like, she makes solid decisions with the basketball, and she can facilitate, attack to score, or knock down open jumpers consistently. She just understands how to run the show, and she does a nice job of playing compact and not allowing anyone to really invade her space. What's scary for opponents is, she has 3 more years before college!
