Here is a new series of articles I will be coming out with, looking ahead to how teams will look next season. Here we will start with the 3A state champion, Garfield HS.

Despite being the 6th seed in the tournament last year, Garfield dominated at the state tournament. They defeated the 3 seed Snohomish, 12th seed Everett, 2nd seed Lakeside (Sea), and top seed Mead in the state championship. Katie Fisco dominated the high school scene here in the state of Washington for 4 straight years, likely winning 4 straight instead of 3 if COVID didn't take away the 2020 state tournament.

Garfield has a very strong senior class last year, losing Fisco alongside Maya Davis, Naima Joesph, and a few others. They will be a new look team but will always be competing with the top teams in the entire state. Here are some players to watch out for.

Sarah only knows winning state championships, having won every year of her high school career so far. She is a top 10 player in the entire 2025 class and has the motor to do whatever it takes to win. She stands at 6'3" and has great touch around the rim to finish at a high rate. She'll have a more prominent scoring role next season and will do a great job at that role.

Just like Sarah, Star only knows about finishing the high school season as a state champ. With the class of 2024 graduating, she will take on a larger role for the team. She can handle the ball well and finish around the rim smoothly. She has a solid jumper too, so defenders can't fall asleep when defending her.

Jayda will be surprising a lot of people next year, stepping into a more ball dominate guard role for Garfield. Lewis gets down hill nicely, being strong with the ball and not being afraid to go at defenders to get a bucket. She'll likely be the facilitator for Garfield now that Fisco is graduated but Lewis is going to excel right from the jump and show that Garfield could go for a 4 peat.

Other players to watch for:

[player_tooltip player_id='753676' first='Devyn' last='Hall'] - gritty defender who can guard multiple positions, does all the little things well and plays with 100% effort.

[player_tooltip player_id='688523' first='Lisa' last='Stewart'] - lengthy player who rebounds very well, being able to push the ball in transition well with her dribble or the pass. Defends at a high level for a 2027.

[player_tooltip player_id='751292' first='Mariah' last='Roy'] - Mariah is another young player for Garfield who I believe can make a big impact right away with the team needing some players to step up. Roy has great length and size, being able to play a variety of positions on the court
